rinse and repeat
we traded air between our lungs
and the warmth beneath our skin
as you exhaled three words
that had never been directed my way
and as you left that day
leaving me with your taste
I picked up your shirt
of bright patterns
and crinkles displaying the previous night
and washed it, so it was just like new
but with each return
your colours started to fade
until that night you said you were staying in
so I went out
and noticed you at the back of the club
in a bright new shirt
holding another girl
I froze as you left
with her in your arms
in your fancy new shirt
that you'd leave at hers
and I would learn
that I was a used washing machine
stuck on
rinse
and
repeat
and the warmth beneath our skin
as you exhaled three words
that had never been directed my way
and as you left that day
leaving me with your taste
I picked up your shirt
of bright patterns
and crinkles displaying the previous night
and washed it, so it was just like new
but with each return
your colours started to fade
until that night you said you were staying in
so I went out
and noticed you at the back of the club
in a bright new shirt
