Until I Awoke

Your lithe body trembles at my touch
all that I am, all that we are exists
in the moments between heartbeats.
Your hair covers your eyes, the ends tickle
my ear as my head rests on your soft breasts.
The scent of your skin fills me with desire,
I yearn for your body, your mind, your spirit,
your life and my life are one if only until
the sun sets behind the mountains.

Until I awoke, you were the world to me, my dream
so real I wanted to hang onto it forever.
You are not in my bed, you never were,
yet you exist so passionately in my heart.
Awake, half of me is missing.
I fall back asleep to be with you one last time...
