ugli fruit
i held an ugli fruit
in the palms of my hands
and it felt whole
like a human heart
it felt hole
like a human heart.
i cracked open the ugli fruit
and inside
was the skin and the pulp
i sucked dry
from each slice.
then i wanted to know
if every time we cut into
some kind of fruit
if it can feel pain
and if it does
will it cry?

eye'm usually not a big fan of
anthropomorphism,
but
this one is a sweet fruit treat....
wit due respect to 'impartial'...there are no rules re:
meaning
meaningless
meaningMore[orLess]....'meaning' is too subjective to 'mean' anything Real....

i'm not so fond of this one either...
but i was sort of aiming for a little bit of a point.
a long long long long long time ago, i must of been on my period or something and i was super over emotional and i was cutting open a grape fruit for breakfast, and i started to almost cry, because i thought it could probably feel the pain, and i know that's fucking stupid... but still,
and now i have these like vegan friends, and we get in heated debates over it
and the other day i was admiring the feel of a large, swollen ugli fruit in my hands
and it made me think the same thing...
i think plants have feelings too.
