Child and Chalice
Flame of the candle,
bright within My Eye,
as the woods embrace ample cry
Sprite and Spry is dance alive,
wandering with chalice sipping the life,
so to dive this divine
we savour the sublime,
speaking sparse the fluid of times
that are dry character calls,
stories, all, past and present playing ball,
to forge what’s clad the earth,
it's practice in chant in action.
Past present future
all one and the same
the beginning the end
were found in the stream,
flowed and stroked since time i was born...
a child of the woods rests
with ease as a breeze
wafts honeysuckle to the lips
endlessly
bright within My Eye,
as the woods embrace ample cry
Sprite and Spry is dance alive,
wandering with chalice sipping the life,
so to dive this divine
we savour the sublime,
speaking sparse the fluid of times
that are dry character calls,

to forge what’s clad the earth,

Past present future

Time is like a snake swallowing its tail. The end of the beginning, is the beginning of an end. Good read Soul.

Very nice, Soulman. The first stanza is my favorite where you fire your poetic gifts on all cylinders. Terrific flow and brimming with meaning. "Dive the divine," indeed , my friend.

A magical poem, thrumming with secrets.
You seem to have endless skill,
you always pull something
out of the hat :)

I feel as if you have presented the essence of what is so remarkable about stories given to us about Native Americans. What I especially commend you for is being able to complete this great write without engaging in what is my usual tendency; making a gloomy reference to what has threatened nature.
Bravo!

funny you should mention tumbleweeds in that my home for most of my life was in the high desert of California. Two things that could always be counted on; wind when graduation came around (students chasing after caps) and tumbleweeds all over the place.

I Love Cali...north and South...so much vastness and Beautiful nature!!!
yes...unfortunately we don't have those here...but empty grocery bags that appear out of nowhere blowing and tumbling across the roads...dirtbags...if their not pitching bottles the bags float from the neighborhood "high on the hill" ...I take it...You lived in Southern Cali?
I haven't seen too much of that area...but what was saw...took my breath...friends keep trying to get me to visit...one day :)

I must take this one, Soul, for my reading list. It reminds me of when I read The Waste Lands by T.S. Eliot, who is one of my best poets, and The Waste Lands one of my best poems. Your style almost resembles his. It's potent and fearsome. It's a poem I pause to read deeply and contemplate thoroughly.
Good work, Soul.

Demo Sir You do me a great Honor and I thank You deeply!!!
I know the name quite well, sadly I have only glanced the work through the years and has been since my teens...I shall have to read up soon.
I spent days with very few poetry works and more with books upon history and fantasy...and the odd writes/poems sprinkled along.
I thank You Greatly kind Sir!!!
