So Close To Goodbye

What would you do if you knew you had one day left
to say whatever you want to say to the one you love?
We have been best friends since seventh grade,
 And tomorrow is graduation day.
You will be staying in a College close to home,
I will be leaving far away from you both.
No one believed a boy and girl could just be friends.
You prove them wrong but I couldn’t keep up that way.
Now our friendship is not that strong,
Now you do not come to me when something is wrong.
Every day I wish we could go back to being best friends,
Every day I wish I could hold you close again.
But times have change, as well as me and you,
What have  not change are my feelings towards you.

I have been thinking how to tell you I love you.
I have been thinking how to say goodbye.
But every time I start to figured it out,
tears of sadness escape from my eyes.
If only you could see,
My heart belongs to you.
If only you could see,
I ache to tell you : I love you
Before I go away and knowing you won’t answer the same,
I need to say for the first time,
To my first long lasting love,
I love you since the day we met.
