My Plagued Heart
I feel sad today
alone and afraid
terrified of the future
walking in the ashes of my past
circling through my mind
mistakes I've made
like a scratched record
that keeps repeating
the same lyrics
the blues station
all day long every day
I beg the powers that be
play me a new tune
to dance to today
take me from the soot
wash me clean
in the river of contentment
take me to the shores of enlightenment
groaning within myself
I wish to smash that wrecked record
beat it into bits
take in a deep breath of fresh air
start anew with no worries
to plague my heart
today my muse has denied me entry
into her inner sanctum
this is where I feel safest
far away from despair
washed up on a beach some where
cleansed in it's turquoise ocean
feeling refreshed
my muse embraces me now
telling me lovingly
sometimes we play the blues lovely one.

A clever write, one that steals you away
to the atmosphere that you write with your
words.
I thought the ending was a little piece of genius,
and helped me through a mind-trouble that
I couldn't find answers to a question i'd
forgotten, or lost in a mind-maze.
