The Months Of Rays

I so wake up to a sound
not Mother Mary I hear
a Northwestern Crow against the roof
greets me in his unique way

For the sound first sounds like some drilling
as if a woodpecker taking on wood
if it's meant to annoy
not doing the job it should

For to be a pest the bird must arrive earlier
by now already played with the four legged beasts
and once he sees me he takes to flight
the knocking for the day has ceased (to the best of my knowledge)

A kayak is ripe and ready
all needed is the water drained out
collected during usual showers
no reason to moan or put

For in no time the sun dries the seats
only decision is two seater or one
just needed a vehicle to get it to the park
not to heavy but with my little car can't be done

The cats seem to know it is getting warmer
fight for spots under any car around
the announcement that a favored spot is taken
seem so loud as to be heard by all in town

The only pest that really does bother
the stink bugs love the new wood in a huge way
from the new part of the main house
sometimes unnerve me when on the computer I play

And I will confess that can be the one moment
when I am most inhumane
one or two are really alright
but when more are on the scene I get tired of the fight

Trails not far from the house
to walk, bike, or even fish
sometimes a bottle from an adult beverage is found
or the remains of a lover's swish

Been fortunate in that even this area
has it's people who so love the herb
have the decency to put out the stuff when done
so the fauna and flora is not disturbed

Those of you who know my nature
should expect what is next
Sir Paul will "Take It Away"
so here is the bard's perfect text

We've been "sleeping
through a bad dream
tomorrow it will be over
for the world will soon be waking
to the summer's day"

Lyrics- Paul McCartney, "Take It Away", "Summer's Day Song"
