Would Have, Could Have, Didn't
summer touched upon me today
stirring thoughts of you
your crazy introduction into my life
turned my world upside down
if only for one summer
how alive you made me feel
you flipped the switch
from darkness to light
showing me there’s still some spark
one you saw in me
feeling a change coming I embraced it
flattered and grateful for opening my heart
one I wish even now
I was able to give you
you understood me all too well, and I thank you
so when breezes blow warm and smooth
and I pass places that make me dream
and wish things could be different
oh, how I wish
I smile, shake my head and always think of you
stirring thoughts of you
your crazy introduction into my life
turned my world upside down
if only for one summer
how alive you made me feel
you flipped the switch
from darkness to light
showing me there’s still some spark
one you saw in me
feeling a change coming I embraced it
flattered and grateful for opening my heart
one I wish even now
I was able to give you
you understood me all too well, and I thank you
so when breezes blow warm and smooth
and I pass places that make me dream
and wish things could be different
oh, how I wish
I smile, shake my head and always think of you
