You and Me
Looking back upon the struggles of yesterday
Memories distorted, emotions hard to convey
The finality of that night, last moments together
Painful eternal darkness which binds us forever
Images so vivid, our laughter contagious
Five bottles of wine, coke snorting outrageous
Our bond unbreakable, cemented in time
You spilled all your secrets, I told you all mine
It came time to say goodbye, a kiss and a hug
I’ll call you Sunday I said, we had plans for lunch
I woke the next morning, hung-over and scattered
In the next few hours, my whole life would be shattered
When you didn’t answer my calls, I thought you were asleep
Left you a voice message affectionately calling you a bitch
As the clock ticked backwards I knew something was wrong
Medics and police lined up outside of your home
Your fiancee he called me to deliver the news
You were on life support; pills made you choke on your spew
I was crying a river, confused and heartbroken
Denied access to see you, in your final precious moments
You wrote in your note, that you had the time of your life
Scared of not being able to re-create the laughter and hype
Of that one fateful night, the happiest you had ever been
I’m comforted that you still visit me in my dreams
Throughout the years I have felt your hands on my shoulders
Re-assuring me, walking with me as I’m getting older
My dear friend, I love you and I miss you like crazy
This life is slipping by; soon I’ll be pushing up daisies
Until that time comes, reserve a spot in paradise for me
I’ve got plans to have lunch, get drunk, you and me
Memories distorted, emotions hard to convey
The finality of that night, last moments together
Painful eternal darkness which binds us forever
Images so vivid, our laughter contagious
Five bottles of wine, coke snorting outrageous
Our bond unbreakable, cemented in time
You spilled all your secrets, I told you all mine
