Fragmented Hope

Sitting here,
in white button down,
pink bra beneath,
I giggle (childishly)
wishing for silent reprieve
or sign of slight affection.

Waiting, for sky to open again,
heavy handed drops fall
upon house, quiet, save for
your voice, a lullaby
through deepening darkness.

Candles lit, scent of sandalwood,
Juniper easing mind,
it is easy to imagine
alternate universe;
shirt slips,
slowly, down backside
hands cup breasts, pull nipple
from beneath
pink, to suck,
lips pursed: kiss.

Thighs trembling,
anticipation, sheer
shiver of promise
held between, I ache
knowing that once
rain stops
so might images of fingers
tracing
lifeline, headline,
heartline outline, after hours of
running across body, face,
through hair.

So might this mind rest
from poetry unwritten, caught
gently in hand but never
truly captured.
