We Interrupt This Show....7 0'Clock News/Silent Night, Part II
The height of hypocrisy would be my condemnation
of any and all military excavation
a veteran's son, army was dad's way out
segregated Texas of the 40ies and 50ies had many doubts
The finances to afford education at Berkeley is what it gave
so in sense it was my creation that was saved
and gave my dad and mom the chance to associate
pretty important to my being and fate
My tongue lashing is for those who on routine
want to send service people to places unseen
feed voters inaccuracies to create a threat
and make as big as possible the democratic net
For starters how do intended to force democracy on another land
the definition of choice we misunderstand
kill a family, remove them from sight
only proves the horrible stories of the west to be right
Even noticed how the civilians are the hardest hit
despite strategic sites being what the missiles should get
a mother and who father who can't even articulate the sides
will yet mourn sons and daughters who have died
The biggest tragedy is the promises broken
benefits given when the words of peace are spoken
waiting years for health services, a paperwork fight
how can anyone think this is right?
When narrow minded air bags call all government nasty words
let's get them to go flying with the birds
no government isn't a panacea for all the ills
but all those veterans struggling it gives me chills
For because of them there are many things I can say
not matter how offensive and live to speak another day
If congress was treated in a similar way
would DC be such a cushy place to stay?
More lobbyists then congress people all counted
some of the snakes have heads who should be mounted
most affluent can spread all the wealth
who cares if toxins destroyed public health
So much more reluctant these days I am to donate
my hard earned treasure to a politician's plate
tired of waxing hope only to pout
"don't you know that you can count me out"
Last line courtesy of John Lennon/Paul McCartney (Revolution)
Title partially taken from a Simon and Garfunkel song.
