I've Known

I’ve known hate, hurt and pain
Because I go through it everyday
At school, home, and just inside
It’s always there eating me alive

I’ve known fights, torture, and death
Because I have to fight everyday inside and out
Torture from the kids, therapist, and others every day of my life
Deaths because the ones I get close die and the torture lives on and on

I’ve known rape, blood, and drugs
Because my stepfather watched as his friend rape me and never peeped a word
Blood from me living in the hood and cutting myself
Drugs from me using and abusing pills, weed, and alcohol

I’ve known so many things and seen so many too
I do not let anyone tell me what I can and cannot do
I have matured so fast at such a young age you will be surprised if you got to know me
I’ve known my life wasn’t going to be easy and I have learned at a young age no one can be trusted

I’ve known rape because of my cries
I’ve known drugs because I got high
I’ve known death because he comes
I’ve known blood because it is shown
I’ve known hate because it has grown
I’ve known hurt because it follows
I’ve known fights because I have no choice
I’ve known pain because it is there
I’ve known torture because I went through it and go through it everyday
