Submerged in Silence
Two taps on my shoulder
My confirmation
Its time
One last glance
Surrounded
Surrounded by a world so bright
So busy
So
Loud
One step and
SPLASH!
Noise
Noise slowly slips away
A welcome deafness
To all but my own breathing
As the waves effortlessly put life on mute
Adrift in an endless sea
Both physical and mental
All negativity marooned on surface
I float silently in serenity
At peace with myself
In a world that is not my own
And yet this place whispers ...

In My Mind
As I lie sleepless
All alone in my bed
The dark waves roil and crash
Foreshadowing the coming storm in my head
The tempest throws shrapnel of memories past
Of things to come
Of life's wretchedness
Against the thin barricade of my subconscious
As the bunker of safety begins to crack around me
Poison barbs scream through the gaps
Their toxins infecting me
Sending my mind hurling into the maelstrom
Why
Who am I
Why does this happen to me Life just go away
Paininsomniaregret desolation ...
All alone in my bed

From the Depths
See that thing?
It crawls ragged from the depths
That creature
That monster
That battered unrecognizable filth
That thing that crawls from the depths
You can see it's pain
It's sorrow
You can see its determination to rise even after countless falls
This battered tortured beast
So determined to take the beatings
Survive the falls
And crawl once more
Out from the depths
This monstrosity
This unbelievable survivor
This thing so beaten, battered, bruised
So...

The Spiral
Down Down Down it spins
Watch it go
It never ends
The spiral consumes
Sucks the air from your lungs
Spinning so fast
Each vain attempt at a breath
Only an airless gasp
Down Down Down it spins
Watch it go
It never ends
This spiral it starts
With a single step
Watch the ground crumble
Down and away
You try to run but only manage to stumble
Down Down Down it spins
Watch it go
It never ends
You see it now
As you fall
That you only have yourself to blame
So as the fall batters you more...

In This Place
In this place
I see the world
Not for what it is
But for what I wish it never was
In this place
The taste of sin
It dances on my lips
A dance so smooth
So hot and strong
And yet so soft and kind
In this place
I am alone
But shrug off the weight I bear
And for a moment
If only one
I can leave it sitting there
The bad the ugly
The mine the yours the theirs
The weight I carry
Of which most are unaware
Sitting here
I see it clear
Where it all divides
What's mine to bear...
I see the world
Not for what it is
But for what I wish it never was
In this place

The stones hit my glass
Sweet smelling poison awaits as the cap leaves the bottle
A searing burn to warm a frigid soul
Truly
Its only fuel for the fire
Each drop igniting another painful spark
Until I lay a withered husk
All that was me reduced to smoldering coals
Finally the numbness kicks in
One?
Two?
Five glasses?
I don't remember now
Doesn't really matter I guess
Momentarily saved from myself
The end justifies the means
I'm here
No need to ask myself how
Drifting...

My hands shake
Pupils dilate
I soar into regretful oblivion
This ecstasy
Brings a pain unbearable

The Names of the Whispering Wind
Can you hear them
The tales they spin
The lies they tell
The truths therein
Can you read their ancient tongue
Enjoy the tunes of their songs unsung
They carry across the fields
The streams
In gentle whispers
In howling screams
I speak to them now
Just as I spoke to them then
For the knowledge they carry
Is of ancient deliverance
To atone for our modern sin
These voices of sages and tyrants within
They ride on the breeze
Bearing the names of the whispering wind

Offering of Rock and Anchor
Yes I've seen that girl
I've gazed into blue eyes
I've seen the heart well hidden
And dried the tears she cries
A heart that's made of steel
Is one left cold and dead
One imagined by a mind
That's filled with thoughts of dread
Yes I've seen that girl
I hold her now and then
To keep the world's bladed lies
From digging deeper in
For a heart that's made of steel
Is one so cold and dead
But it's her tender loving heart
That the privileged see instead

Your Eyes
As I gaze into your eyes
I'm trapped
I'm mesmerized
Your soul it speaks to me
It speaks with words like summer rain
Washing over me
With a melody
That dulls my pain
And brings forth the strength that I can't see
Like a sunset painted by cupid's hand
Those eyes
They take away my breath
And show me truth
That I can love far beyond my death

Fresh and new
I stumble on unsteady legs
If only to take in the view
It doesn't matter the consequences
Once I see it all
Then I'll take care of recompenses
My heart is my guide
You call me reckless
But I can't contain this curiosity inside
Each waking moment
A new journey for me
Every second
A new discovery
You call me a fool
Only because it's your mind
Not your heart
That you allow to rule

Him
I wake
Immobile
The beast from my dream laughs at me from his throne upon my chest
I can't breathe
Can't move
The demon's eyes
Scorch my soul and incinerate the rest
I feel them
So real
Five points of agony
His claws of steel
Taunting me
Piercing deeper toward my heart
I will not die
For it is misery
Not murder
This creature sees as art
He whispers in my ear
About the screams
I could not hear
My loved ones fell
While I slept
From chest to chest
This monster leapt
...
