Sharp Steel
This pain,
It drives me crazy.
I miss your touch,
the way you'd hold me.
I find solace in metal,
Sharp steel.
As it cuts through my skin,
Through my veins,
I feel in control again.
I feel calm.
This razor will never leave me,
Its my only companion.
This world,
It is so cruel.
It just takes one cut to end it all,
One cut I do not dare.
My wounds leave scars,
Scars others can't see.
Scars that others won't care about.
This pain,
Its so strong.
It beats me into nothing,
It controls me,
Hurts me,
Kills...
It drives me crazy.

Detox
This feeling, this sobriety-
It terrifies me.
It leaves me empty,
Broken, beaten, and battered.
I need a fix,
Just once more and I'll be done.
2 weeks now, I've had to face reality
Without my shielding haze protecting me.
Like this, you come back to me.
All our memories, our laughs, and our moments.
All the pain of missing you,
Of living without you.
This addiction, its so hard to break.
I need a hit,
I need a high,
I need.. to say goodbye.
Reality has crashed on my shoulders,
But I cannot bear this...
It terrifies me.

Higher
The smoke makes my eyes burn,
My throat screams.
My body begs me to stop,
But I want to get higher, higher.
The thought of losing everything,
It terrifies me.
So i take another hit,
Another line,
Another shot.
One more pill,
I'll stop one day, I swear.
My thoughts float away until there is nothing,
My mind becomes a blank abyss.
My eyes are black holes.
The memories of you,
Of what you've done-
They all fade away.
They float into the clouds,
Higher,
Higher.

Glass Bottles
One more drink, and you hide the bottle.
You swear,
You promise that you don't have a problem.
You close the door on those who tell you,
And hide in the bottom of your glass,
Drinking and swigging your life away.
Drunken rampages,
Name-calling,
Paranoia,
And hate.
You ignore us, you ignore the world,
Just keep drinking and losing this internal battle.
You numb yourself,
Even at the cost of everything-
Love,
Happiness,
And a home.
Rock bottom isn't low enough, is it?
You will never learn,
Never change.

You swear,
You promise that you don't have a problem.
You close the door on those who tell you,

My Mistake
When my world was falling apart,
You were the one I ran to.
You rescued me,
Listened to me,
Loved me.
But, somewhere along the line,
We fell apart.
Bought into the hype.
They said we were perfect,
But perfect was not fights everyday,
Cheating,
Lieing,
Double standards.
No, we were far from perfect.
But we still loved with a love greater than us.
I messed up, I gave up.
I thought I'd be okay, but what can I say?
I miss you.
You were the one I ran to.

But what do they know?
Call me mental,
Emo,
Crazy,
I don't care.
It helps me focus on the pain.
Takes my mind off of things,
If only for a while.

I Am
I am Kristin.
Like the rivers, I am flowing, rushing, moving.
But like the stones, I am steady, solid, bruised- but not broken.
I am the color of life, green and new and always pushing through.
When my name is sung, it sounds like the soft patter of rain on your window.
And like fire, I am passionate, burning with a rage unseen to most.
I believe in hope, in the stars- they're always there.
I touch the sky, like a feather blowing in the wind.
I am alone, being swallowed by the world, no mother to be my life preserver.

Your thoughts are murky, your eyes are glazed.
Your hands- they tremble, shudder, and shake.
Your screams are silent, they're filled with regret,
Of a life once had- a life lost and buried dead.
It consumes your mind, it twists your life.
