POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I just wander through my mind and pick up what's lying around on any given day. I'm not a trained poet but I enjoy writing nonetheless. It seems like a good way to drain the demons in my head in a constructive manner.
The Night Is So Cold
Words are screamed in the night so dark and filled with hard rain
Thrown in faces in anger and runaway pain
In the morning we’re both crying and sorry for the things that we said
But you can never go back to where you were before in the end
You can never go back there again
The fights come too often now
And the cuts are too close to the bone
The words ring of truth in the dark of the night and the cold of the rain
And it doesn’t matter what we say now
We’ve both hit too close to home
Sometimes it’s better to just turn our heads
And just...

The Empty Page
He sits atop his comfy chair
In this place he knows so well
With a sweating glass of amber courage
Close by to his hand
The screen has stayed a daring white
And the words die in his head
Another day of thoughts and drink
Will not bring them to the page
He’s never been this way before
With his fingers in their normal space
They hover above the keys but do not move
As he slowly starts to cry a silent tear rolls down his face
His novels line the walls
And his poetry can dance across the page
But somewhere between his thoughts and fingers...

The Witch Hunt
The sky in the north
Blazes blue and red
My mind fills with darkness and shades of dread
As the different thinking man is marched away
The time has come for him today
Very soon now his living mind
It will be cold and dead
The witch hunt is filled with fear
As the crops wilt and disappear
And the different among us here
Will be singled out to be taken away
By heads filled with the evil thoughts
That a strange man’s eyes and unkempt beard
Have the power to blight their seeds some way
So the axe is sharpened and the hooded man
Stands...

Nature's Force
She sees the night sky in a way that I’ll just never see
And pulls me down beside her in the tall grass to tell her tales to me
She comes from magic it seems and I am bound by her spells
Her female alchemy just pulls my heart from me
I can see all that I need to see when I turn to look in her eyes
To know I’ll never need to find another dream
She is all I’ll ever need I know it deep in my heart
And I can only dream she feels the same of me
She’s one of nature’s forces set free and on the loose
A distant storm front that brings the thunder to you...

Of Two Minds
Riff one
Well sometimes I get in my own way
And rip away all my thrills
A Gemini trick of two minds
One who won’t and one who will
*(Oh)
I want to ditch him by the side of the road
I thinks exactly the same as the mind of the other
One on each side of a fence so high
And still trying to smother his brother
*(I don’t know why)
Chorus
Gemini
Geminay I say
Each trying to kill the other
And killing himself along the way
Riff one

Heartfelt Feelings
And I still feel like
Like an absolute beginner
Like a man whose found himself lost
In the scary woods of words or phrases
Not sure just what to say
Only knowing it must be said
Or my soul will suffer
And my mind will pale
Into some empty place filled with shadows
And the monsters of stories that should have been told
Just to empty my soul of them
To write them on electric paper
And have them say something at the end
What that is I’m still not sure
I’m just an absolute beginner
And the beginning is the end
Like an absolute beginner
Like a man whose found himself lost
In the scary woods of words or phrases

Uncommon Mistakes
Anger brings motion unequal to what’s at stake
Uncommon reactions bring action that leads to uncommon mistakes
Not looking before you leap
Brings you to places you’d rather not see
And anger melts into shaking hands and sweaty feet
You say to yourself what have I done
It’s too late to walk away and too late to run
Your handiwork lays at your feet
In a broken mess of blood and torn up meat
And you’re unable to speak a word in your own defense
How do you put this into words that the others will understand?
Who do you ask for help when you’ve...

Softer Music
The music is too loud for me in this club
And I feel suddenly old and out of place within its walls
The pounding beat and repetitive music is not my style
And my style is not welcome here
I’ve seen the looks, not hostile but simply questioning
I question myself as I sip my drink
With a plan to leave once the liquid is gone I just look around
At the young men and women as they dance a dance I could never repeat
And scream to be heard above the primal beating of drums and screeching electronics
Then my eyes pass by one look, and return to it in surprise...

The Patient
Doctors lined, impatient rows
To hear my sorry tales of woe
Samples taken or every kind
Mundane or embarrassed they just don’t mind
Such serious countenance to my face
And yet delight in all my aches
The guinea pig I am
The guinea pig I’ll stay
I just endure
I have no say
They care not even a speck at all
That I stay sick while they stand tall
And so the row renews again
While I shrink in and hurt
In life in pain
The guinea pig I am
The guinea pig I'll stay
Until the very end
That painless final day

The Course Of Love
She doesn’t seem to mind the unmade bed in my dim room
As we lay down intertwined fully dressed
Though I am lightning quick embarrassed
And forgotten why before the thunder
Her thin print dress seems to wrap her tightly
Clinging to her softly sweating body
Where the paperback novelists call all the right places
I gently stroke the unseen downy peach fuzz of her cheek
While I kiss those soft unadorned lips of pink
In no need of false ruby colors
To showcase their beauty and shape
And a simple brush of my arm across her small and firm breast...

The Inheritance
The meek will inherit what’s left of the earth
After the confident and strong have used it all up
Once they’ve lost all they ever wanted
Or never gained it at all
A lifetime of dreaming
Of just fitting in
Will be for naught now
That there’s nothing left worth having
And now it’s all theirs
And there’s nothing left
To fit into at all
But their hole in the earth
And so meekly they go to their graves
Never knowing the satisfaction of having what they dreamed of
But they will go with a smile after it all
Because in the end it’s all...

First Lesson
He’s fumbling young
At seventeen
And can’t believe
The luck he’s seeing
She knows that he’ll
Be quick to come
An older woman
Twenty one
Brings on the next
Erected man
With darting tongue
And expert hands
She’ll teach him things
Important glands
And happy spots
When her turn lands
He won’t forget the first
Of more to come
And learn the things
He’ll use
At twenty one
At seventeen

She knows that he’ll
Be quick to come
An older woman
Twenty one
Brings on the next
Erected man
With darting tongue
And expert hands
She’ll teach him things
Important glands
And happy spots
When her turn lands
He won’t forget the first
Of more to come
And learn the things
He’ll use
At twenty one
