POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
classic rhyming stuff been called a realism poet. No axes to grind, chips on shoulders un-found, just like the fun of writing stuff down, safe in the sanctuary here Deep Underground.
The day the fair came to town
Gaudy music leaves a stain
the generators powering its gauche proclaims
steam organs dressed with wooden drummers
automaton all the bandstand playing Souza
the music like the rides swirl your emotions
a Scottish reel with kilt a blowing
undulating like the waltzer
a swarthy grin that spins the seat
screaming like the noon express
abandon in delights volumptuosness
bright youth however old you are
dislodge a coco-nut so shy
a soft toy, a prize, sizzling like burger fries
a kiss as soft as candy floss ...

Dark days of lent
Behold when all the jingle
fell like shooting stars
and planets bound in their conjunction
signs the god of Mars
Delilah cut Samson's hair
took the treasure that was there
the strength I had the arms that wrap
embers glow to always know
hold the ticket close in a breast pocket
and search in vain when it got lost
the blocked phone with a text
I'm on the train is dinner on?
the Judas that was her shalom
remember her unkempt and ruffled
pink spring blossom blown
petals stolen by the imps of doubt
tore my heart;...

The grand master
The white knight on a trusty steed
that can leap and jump with ease
and bow and scrape to kings and queens
the white or black pawns born lesbians
or be gay and not be prude
in that advance be misconstrued
taken down by the dirty rook
trapped and couldn't cock a snook
or bishop that has been defrocked
and left exposed by his own flock
soon castled, a defensive move
threaten, and to be repelled
blood was spilt as the pieces fell
the war it raged between white and black
casualties in piles were stacked
sacrificed to...

Halloween
The leaves have turned from green to ginger
autumns creeps with its cold fingers
the equinox past and natures hand
inexorable, looking for a place to camp
Bring the first dew to the gravestones
freshly carved and hardly cold
through the yew trees, an east wind moaned
the spirits day, be arriving as foretold
Druids clad in robes a flowing
chanting as they praised the runes
brought the wood and laid the kindling
invoke the power of the moon
On the the date that greets the cusp
the stocking net tween...

Words carved on headstone
: missing shoe one of a pair
strife cant be appeased
just limping on , broken down
my inconsolable loss:

The grey geese
As we sat, the writing group
on Par beach between the water and the land
kind gradient, a gentle slope
conversation trickled like grains of sand
Beneath our fingers ,do you suppose, September's cool
and idle thoughts of inspiration rose
sky and clouds we wandered in that vestibule
sinking sun drew that day unto a close
And low on the horizon's curve
we squinted held a hand to our forehead
the arrowhead without a swerve
in stately progress, straight ahead
I cried with glee "grey geese I see"

Bottichelli`s Venus
A grain of sand inside a mollusc shell
grows a flawless perfect pearl
the chariot of abalone
splintered light
that is diffused
the crown she wears
it shines with good
helping hands that never could exclude
a warrior to lead the charge
towards the light like Joan of Ark
never; never to betray
her hand upon the oath of love
for family and friends
the matriarch and sainted womb
sentry of aspirations
stand fast with will, not disregard
all paths that lead when times are hard
fountain of endearing love

A posy of lavender
Come rescue me, find in me a troubadour
a verse upon the strings of lute
an apparition rise and be disposed
and clothed so pure without dispute
The gilded lark to reach her ear
and carry my proposal in its beak
just for love, lovelorn in despair
lavender its power so unique
Vain hope to clutch at empty straw
will she grasp the posy that I toss
the beating heart wings so it soars
or will the shutter close, and all be loss
Hold the herbs of love close to her nose
in frame and glass its picture...

Kiss the caldron
In our nature it persists
the tiny lamp
flickers, hidden deep
day dreaming, so blue it's cone
the heartbeat steady
but always ready for a leap
auburn hair fell on bare shoulders
the purple pros of Jackie Collins
the pulse, a She Devil set a throbbing
torch of ever carried lust
provocation in its drape, a glimpse
a glimpse of milk white thigh
and shadows cast in candle light
the page so badly thumbed
green eyes that said could you succumb
underwear to hold such treasure
lace the flimsy bridge
one touch...

Not a walk in the park
Old copies of playboy strewn
they looked tired, time served
I thought of a time when Miss Worlds "speak"
" I just want world piece" fat chance
the girlfriends anniversary flowers
drooping like sex dives dull domesticity
"just going out for a breath of fresh air Honey"
she was sewing some leggings that had a split in the arse
the tv played Mcdonalds yellow arches
I slammed the sticky front door
everywhere I looked was outrageous BMI
where did all the waist go
the Hourglass Bar, full of waspish women...

Becoming
From just base as we were cast
and just the small to cry and laugh
the planets moved and shaped the shoe upon the last
Perambulate our way ahead
and each day we gained a little weight
in health and sometimes to regurgitate
And so to thrive in family succour
green envy that the childless suffer
whether man or woman be your mother
and just the small to cry and laugh
the planets moved and shaped the shoe upon the last
Perambulate our way ahead
and each day we gained a little weight
in health and sometimes to regurgitate
And so to thrive in family succour
