Waking with the Mourning Doves
5:20 AM
The doves wake me
It's too early to rise
I get up anyway
Read poems
Maybe write one
Twenty years on the road
Selling products
Not sexy
Useful is all
Then the Pandemic
13 months at home
Slowly emerging
Out into the light
In some ways I'll miss the quiet
Only interrupted by Amazon deliveries
Truth is the city was too crowded before
We'll see now what gives ....

On the corner looking at my watch
I saw you in the distance
You were late
You know how I am about time
Previously I would have been pissed
In another lifetime

No apology
Threw your arms around me
Hugged me tight
Grabbed my hand
We started walking
Strong coffee at the...

The loneliness trapped me
