POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Only kinda obsessed with tropes.
Lies in between stanzas
when i say that i am not a poet,
i don’t mean that i am not passionate.
i’m passionate about things that don’t rhyme.
i’m passionate about abortions and the economy.
i’m passionate about healthcare and human rights.
i’m passionate about the wage gap hear thigh gaps.
when i say that i am not a poet,
i mean that i can’t think of clever metaphors for disasters
for rape
or misogyny.
i mean that i don’t understand the difference between who and whom, but who does?
i mean that i will not dismantle the patriarchy with flowering words

Idiom
they say however the cookie crumbles
[i shake my head no]
i will break the cookie myself and choose my own destiny
they say that i am barking up the wrong tree
[i shake my head no]
i get the word bitch tattooed on my inner lip
they say that i could bear to be more down to earth
[i shake my head no]
i will hang out with the stars,
you’re not pulling me back into your orbit
they say that i need to pull myself together
[i shake my head no]
i let my limbs stay loose and free,
i melt into a happy puddle
they say curiosity...

Manic Dream
Her clunky-vintage boots, only slightly wrought with mud, make up almost ¼ of her weight.
She stands at a grand height of five feet, and two inches.
She casually bops her head to the alternative punk music blaring from her grimy white earbuds.
Her jacket, a brazen display of every reference to social justice and pop culture available in the 21st century, which is to say all of them. Her vinyl pins take a special sort of pride in declaring “boomer” or a particular gleaming pin: “Eat the Rich,”
Her ever present bottle of Dr Pepper is misted with condensation. She downs...
