POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
unnamed
"Come," she tells me softly, extending her hand towards me, "You will enjoy it." I bet I will--she is absolutely lovely--not that that matters much but it is hard not to notice. I look into her face, trying to glean any sign of dishonesty. I cannot read her. Maybe I don't want to. Perhaps I want to be lead--let my defenses down for a moment. Giving her what she is asking for would be easy as I look into her seemingly innocent eyes--beautiful eyes, bright and clear, and a color I am not sure is real. She has no understanding of the battle that rages inside me--they...

Shallow darkness softly falls on whispered prayers unanswered
And mourning breath of shaded ruin has yet to be awakened
The wayfarer comes not unprepared through quiet everlasting anguish
Once released impressions fade acceptance overwhelms entire
For final radiance begins unheard a faultless ecliptic passage

There's a chair out of place at the table in the kitchen.
A flaw hardly noticed if it wasn't looked for;

Too many flavors of Doritos
I have never really liked cities - covered in concrete and lack of green
unswayable wind breaks trapping stagnant air
and I have never really liked malls - flashy displays and every want met
necessity defined with strategically placed subconscious cues
-- But its more than that.
I never really could handle airports - the amount of screens with dyslexic text
and Charlie Brown voices through intercoms
or commuter rails with confusing color coded worm-like drawings
You are here, thank god for that
and freeways whose definition is a paradox
