Thirst
Rain cannot teach,
for only when tears
fall to the lips,
does the mouth know
what thirst is for.
for only when tears
fall to the lips,
does the mouth know
what thirst is for.

Unnoticed
Days and nights without you
pass unnoticed by the outside world
But every beat of my heart
unnoticed by you lasts an eternity
pass unnoticed by the outside world
But every beat of my heart
unnoticed by you lasts an eternity

Losing the Light
Moon below the horizon
darkness before dawn
losing the light
losing the fire within
sunflower blossoms
one last time
before returning to the earth
no solace for the withered
darkness before dawn
losing the light
losing the fire within
sunflower blossoms
one last time
before returning to the earth
no solace for the withered

Soul Meets Body
I want my soul to meet your body
before we all burn,
before the June moon
abandons springs’ last sunflower
when memories of me are just a dream
of times lost forever
And if silence takes you away,
I hope it takes me too
for I will follow you into the dark
where your soul meets my body
before there’s nothing left to do
and nowhere else to go
before we all burn,
before the June moon
abandons springs’ last sunflower
when memories of me are just a dream
of times lost forever
And if silence takes you away,
I hope it takes me too
for I will follow you into the dark
where your soul meets my body
before there’s nothing left to do
and nowhere else to go

Until I Awoke
Your lithe body trembles at my touch
all that I am, all that we are exists
in the moments between heartbeats.
Your hair covers your eyes, the ends tickle
my ear as my head rests on your soft breasts.
The scent of your skin fills me with desire,
I yearn for your body, your mind, your spirit,
your life and my life are one if only until
the sun sets behind the mountains.
Until I awoke, you were the world to me, my dream
so real I wanted to hang onto it forever.
You are not in my bed, you never were,
yet you exist so passionately in my heart....
all that I am, all that we are exists
in the moments between heartbeats.
Your hair covers your eyes, the ends tickle
my ear as my head rests on your soft breasts.
The scent of your skin fills me with desire,

yet you exist so passionately in my heart....

Dress Up
She wandered into my closet
kicked off her shoes
and tried on my slippers
"I'd like to try this on" she said
as she reached for my red woolen shirt
"It's too big for you" I said
as she wrapped it around
her slender shoulders
"That's ok I like wearing it."
"Why is that?" I asked, curious.
"Because it smells like you."
"Ah, I see." And I did.

One Lucky Bastard
I was playing pool at my local bar
late one Monday night.
Nobody plays on Mondays,
just me, a cue and fifteen balls
bashing our heads together over
vodka straight up
Just as I broke, a sweet young thing
in a black leather jacket, red boots
and a blue streak bleached through
her hair rolls in
I’m leaning over, about to make my bank
shot when she moves in real close.
I can smell her perfume mixed with
something lower that drives me fucking
crazy.
“Buy me a drink,” she says, “and l’ll show
you how to...

Desire
I dared not utter my thoughts of you, the silence deafened the room.
I sat alone, waiting, hoping, fearing I was invisible to you.
I could not say a word but I felt all your beauty.
If only we could dance before a world that would deny us
Laughing we escape into the evening,
with eyes only for each other.
I sat alone, waiting, hoping, fearing I was invisible to you.
I could not say a word but I felt all your beauty.
If only we could dance before a world that would deny us
Laughing we escape into the evening,
with eyes only for each other.

The Panther and the Tiger
I love your dark fur, my beautiful Panther,
in fact, I love everything about you:
how you move, how you purr, the way
you stalk your prey...
Thank you, dear Tiger.
Although we are so different, in many ways
we are so much the same. I love your stripes,
how you stealthily creep through the jungle,
your sharp and beautiful mind...
You are too kind, my Panther, I look forward
to hunting with you, to roam the jungles
at your side, to feel the thrill of the hunt,
to share a wild boar that we brought down
together...
I want that...

you stalk your prey...

The Sunflower and the Moon
I need more light said the sunflower to the moon,
my leaves crave your dalliance.
I have given you all I can, dear sunflower,
you know my heart belongs to the sun
and in his light I must bask.
But surely, my moon, you can give me more,
I crave your light during these long, cold nights.
I am sorry, dear sunflower, but I cannot give you
what you ask, though be sure, I will always
look down upon you with a smile.
Thank you, my moon, as I wither away
I will take your kind words as solace,
while I languish alone in the dark.
my leaves crave your dalliance.
I have given you all I can, dear sunflower,
you know my heart belongs to the sun
and in his light I must bask.
But surely, my moon, you can give me more,
I crave your light during these long, cold nights.
