Poet Introduction
I wrote short stories at 7, poems by 12. For more than twelve years I was incapable of writing or singing - I was emotionally closed off to everything except living. Now, at 40, I've regained my voices and there is poetry and song in my life once more.

Broken Beginning
Just because something can be brought together
doesn’t give obligation for the creation
In nature, voluntary isolation mostly means
better to leave well enough alone, walk away
Interaction can cause catastrophic consequences
Bringing close what is best kept separated
is the recipe for disaster than can span generations
Dreams fade, icy hearts remain too cold to ever thaw
Opposites now together, it is only inevitable
that without want or love for them, four children arrive

Divinely Mortal
Music carries sparks of holiness
from loftiest heavenly heights
We are entrusted, emotional souls
in joining that which is holy and profane
Creating immortality in sacred harmony
How could mere man have stolen
the most sacred song of the dawn?
Angels sing the chorus reverently
that masses now carelessly devour
Mortal voices arouse Divine Mercy
No other creation above or below
has such power over their Creator
Riotous angels rage in defiant envy
Shameless theft of holiest melodies

Me and Madness
She comes to me suddenly
I can never anticipate
only able to respond
after she’s settled awhile
She is completely unwelcome
yet I cannot send her away
To banish her,I banish myself
For she my madness
though I am not hers.
Sometimes I barely sleep
My mind, uncontrollably
Arranges words, verses
fingers stained with ink

Days pass, with no difference
I am clueless to what I did

Your absolute arrogance
eclipsed by illogical certainty
Think you solved my mystery?
Come closer, look once more
I'm the juxtaposition of known universes
hidden discovery of uncharted constellations.
A shooting star eternally illuminating
never-ending darkness.
Harmoniously dissonant
emotionally logical
lyrically silent
serenely violent
inhumanely compassionate
divinely mortal
nonviolent mercenary
dominantly submissive
compliantly defiant

Deceptive Fraud
I illuminate my mind with devoted logic
Never again will I passively ascribe
to temporal promised salvation
I cleanse my eyes with holy water
ridding myself of pining reverie
Fake cult with fakest prophet
phony zealot, trickster- leader
Your immaculate love for all
utterly rank, tainted sanctimony
cherished creed an evil chimera
Multitudes adore, worship you
Impoverished individuals fall
face down to the ground
still giving beyond their means
hoping for a sliver of affection

The End of the World, Really?
Everyone imagines the end of the world
as widespread death and destruction.
This may happen at the start, however,
I imagine the conclusion far differently.
I believe the world we live in is already dead
We exist by harvesting its’ dwindling remains
Not enough food, water, resources, space
rare species vanish as soon as discovered.
I also believe that death and rebirth
will happen from one breath to the next.
The earth was not created young
It is created anew every second
for each and every living being ...

Girl with Bubbles
Iridescent spheres floating in springtime air
Childish giggles, sweet coos of innocence
All worlds cease breathing, the angels watch
their young charge delight in dancing
Dish-soap bubbles in the air.
Bluebell eyes widen with wonder
golden ringlets flying in rhythm
pattering of itty-bitty feet
“Mama, I catch bubbles!”
Sweet babyish voice crows in triumph
radiant, confident in accomplishment
Impermanent ethereal sphere
Carefully cradled in tiny little hands

Wedding Canopy
Rainbows, purest blue sky, June sun
all those we loved witnessed, as one
watched as I reached for your hand
You just bestowed my wedding band
and the glass was broken at your feet
Veil removed, smiling, our eyes meet
faces flushed with pride, summer heat
We were so young, so painfully shy
This was the first touch for you and me
You had to be sure this was to be
permissible for so many people to see
Your indecision stopped the ceremony
Even after our elders said it was fine
it was...
