I wrote short stories at 7, poems by 12. For more than twelve years I was incapable of writing or singing - I was emotionally closed off to everything except living. Now, at 40, I've regained my voices and there is poetry and song in my life once more.

Manifesto
You want my turns of phrase, my prayers
sacred secrets I keep to get through my life
When the world seems flat-line terminal
I scream into the silence, fire in my eyes
Keep waiting, today isn't when I fall
A single breath, then another, over again
Push on through, keep your head down
Get it done, walk away and onto the next one
Just a second, you think only words
ensure my survival from day to day?
Words are just useless noise without intent
Faith is the catalyst bringing them to life

Dancing in Hell
The time has come, here and now
No choice remains, you must go
Darkness has fallen, delay no more!
Tonight you dance with demons
The hall is at capacity, every monster
impatiently waiting- honored guest
You indescribable, exquisite mortal,
dance like your soul depends upon it
They will try to force you to submit
these tempting devils you dance with
offering to end your pain, right this instant
Surrender sweetly, darling... just let go
Move lightly, don’t miss a step ...

I’m sick to death of Jews being killed for simply surviving
This time, two murdered in a kosher mom-n- pop in Jersey City
Schools, stores, synagogues, there are no safe places left
You look Jewish, you talk Yinglish, you’re gonna get hurt
I have just one question- it’s painfully simple to answer, so let’s go
Do Jews rampage in your stores, your places of worship, your schools?
Have there been recent yarmulke clad or wig-wearing murderers
Who plotted, planned, then murdered you and yours in cold blood?

Night's Child
The silence sings, weaving sacred lyrics
strong and delicate as spider’s silk
My eyes are filled with fantastic stars
hands outstretched to catch the moon
I dance barefoot upon dewy grass
waiting, longing in darkest night
Earth and I wait with bated breath

In the Name of Piety
Hasidic sex is repeated, ritualistic destruction,
twisted caricature of ultimate, passionate unity
Quietly despised, but completed regardless
so this woman can continue to be a good wife
From the moment of preparation to immerse
in the depths of the ritual bath, heavenly waters
until the act of returning to intimacy is over,
there is little to ease the void of romantic love
Routine has twisted to pattern elevated to ritual
Restrictions dark like the room where ‘love’ is made
No spontaneity, little affection, and less...

Those Which Inspire
Images arrive, carried on colors and patterns
not of this world, nor any other I've known:
demons Hell-forged, angels Heaven-sent
word-entwined emotions, dancing snowflakes
My incessant need builds into a constant ache
evolves rapidly, devouring my focus;
I submit, captive conduit, willing and passive
They’re accompanied by angelic chorus
desiring benevolence if I am fortunate
Should They prove bloody, merciless

Silent Madness
Deception
Looks can be devious
I look strong, balanced, calm
supposedly impervious
Silence and Madness laugh
hysterical at your naivete
Truth
Silence sighs, cries
never lies, never dies
Madness supposedly sets you free
That never happened for me
Reality
Completely unwelcome
I cannot send the shadows away
To banish Silence and Madness
I must exile myself
