POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I've written poetry all my life as a way to get out my emotions, but hit a wall and stopped for five years. I'm now finding my voice on paper/keys again, re-learning how to connect with people in verse.
Dim the Light
A glance,
Aversion--
Could it be,
His hazel eyes gazed up at me.
A blush,
Fixation--
Love so deep,
The reddish color claims my cheek.
A cloak,
Adoration--
Warmth so pure,
My body screams, my presence demure.
A word,
Relation--
Walk to room,
Emotions race, my mind consumed.
A kiss,
Flirtation--
Dreams in sight,
One more moment, then dim the light.
Aversion--

His hazel eyes gazed up at me.
A blush,

Untethered
Charismatic and engaging,
I was already often lost in his carefree smile..
But more now that I am lost in the wonder of his creative hands,
In the caged hopes that glimmer through those tranquil grey orbs.
See how his strong fingers trail gently over the bindings that he works,
How the noble creases in his digits are scored from years of warring and forcing thick parchment into surrender.
My heart palpitates with the punches of his awl, and as he embosses his designs upon the cover, so I make designs of my own - in dreams, amongst the stars.

A Treasure Shrouded
Oh, those blushing cheeks,
Moved by the smallest of sweetnesses;
How they bloom as eager roses
Amidst a paper white garden of purity.
Oh, that the heated swirls of your face
Could melt the icy heart of a man worthy;
How your delicate heart waits so patiently
Gently rebuking the predictable appetites of demons.
And, oh, your skittish spirit,
Stirred by the softest of suggestions;
How like a treasure shrouded sits,
Nestled unpretentiously against past refuse.
Moved by the smallest of sweetnesses;
How they bloom as eager roses
Amidst a paper white garden of purity.
Oh, that the heated swirls of your face
Could melt the icy heart of a man worthy;
How your delicate heart waits so patiently
Gently rebuking the predictable appetites of demons.
And, oh, your skittish spirit,
Stirred by the softest of suggestions;
How like a treasure shrouded sits,
Nestled unpretentiously against past refuse.

You Belong to Another
I miss you ..
Not as someone who has known you for years
and is suddenly absent your presence,
but as someone who has just tasted the most extraordinary wine
and desires the flavor to linger a little longer ..
And a little longer.
I watch you ..
Not as someone who possesses your heart
and eventually will be reciprocated her love,
but as someone who pines, yes, poetically,
for the affections she knows belong to another ..
You belong to another.
I want you ..
Not as someone who desires to win a prize
and show it off...

Contrived Demons
Silence isn't golden,
it's deadly.
In the absence of conversation
the mind infiltrates the heart with poison.
Millions of scattered thoughts
float like ethereal wisps, clouding out love
as darkness blots out the beauty of the light.
The past becomes a possibility of the present;
The present becomes blinded by the fear of future failure.
We drown in ourselves,
gasping for air,
suspended in slow motion,
trying to reach a surface that is leagues beyond our fingertips.
In the moments that follow we beg for salvation,
plead for mercy,...

Diminished
Ten hours of a blender full of
cleaning, cooking, screams, laughter, tears, and toddler conversations.
Deliverance is nigh;
Tick tock, tick tock,
Hurry up hands!
Such relief when I finally see his face,
desperately ready to relinquish my burdens to his arms and lips, to take a short break, regroup.
He asks how I am..
Tired, its been a busy day.
He's exhausted, its been a long semester.
He wins.
Fumbling around the kitchen with more dishes after dinner,
and then shrill cries echo through the house.
No movement from the man at the...

Deliver Me
Colorful glass beads
strung on a silver strand.
With each turn of my fingers,
a reflected memory.
My hidden sins confessed
in chanted prayers,
in hushed whispers of apology and regret.
Have mercy,
let not your ears be deaf.
Though your eyes are closed,
and your chest unmoving,
I can still feel your warm breath,
taste your sweet kiss,
drown in your haunting voice.
Do not force yourself into my memory,
into my box of neatly organized keepsakes.
Tighten your hand around my fingers,
return to me my refuge. ...

Delicious Surrender
Anticipation drips from her painted lips,
like rain water from silken petals;
A taste of heady lust covers the heart in cosmic dust,
And my body grows more unsettled.
Flesh softly trembles as feelings assemble,
like tiny leaves coaxingly blown;
Fingers raking at skin to the music within,
Harmonized with gentle, aching moans.
Desperate passion blinds our swimming minds,
a satin blindfold to youthful eyes;
Hips begin rocking with legs slowly locking,
My resolve has met its demise.
Possessed she claims me, her desire tames me,...

Sans Sweetness
I taste no sweetness, only desire;
In you an untended, raging fire.
Your hands aim to be gentle, but press insistent;
Searching for victory, as I remain resistant.
You speak of bondage, tying ropes,
Yet in submission lies your only hope.
Profess your feelings beyond breathy kissing,
Convince me that you are indeed what I'm missing.
Pass me the spark, burning bright,
Confess to me your sexual plight.
Mask not your intentions in false lines of love,
That I may give you what you're dreaming of.
In you an untended, raging fire.
Your hands aim to be gentle, but press insistent;
Searching for victory, as I remain resistant.
You speak of bondage, tying ropes,
Yet in submission lies your only hope.
Profess your feelings beyond breathy kissing,
Convince me that you are indeed what I'm missing.

Sanctuary
Your chest rises and falls against me,
fingers gently twitching against my side;
As I adore your sleeping face,
I know I couldn't leave you if I tried.
It hurts to love you this much,
so many emotions I can barely contain;
I'm distracted writing this poem ..
because outside I can hear the rain.
Pitter pat, pitter pat,
Do you feel me tapping on your cheek?
I get lost in you, my sanctuary,
When the rest of the world seems bleak.
I plant a kiss upon your lips,
and an 'I want you' in your ear
Before I curl up beside your body...
fingers gently twitching against my side;
As I adore your sleeping face,
I know I couldn't leave you if I tried.

Breathless Amusement
An airy explosion of fragile seams,
Downy white feathers blanketing dreams;
Melodious laughter, muffled screams,
Blunt barrages and hide-and-hit schemes.
Wiggling toes and blanket wraps,
Giddy squeals and forceful face taps;
Smothering victory, ensuring collapse,
Breathless amusement and now a hard-won nap.

Natural Awe
Azurian water trickles from a fall
flooding down across mossy rocks;
The trees grow proudly toward the sky
adorned in leafy locks.
The song birds warble in the wind,
calling out for love;
While insects creep through the undergrowth,
admiring shroom caps up above.
Wildflowers shoot like sprays of stars
from unkempt, chaotic grass;
I continue trudging in awe and wonder
Along this little known forest path.
