(a toast)... To Holiday Cheer...
The holiday season is now in full swing.
Gotta buy crap on a budget shoestring.
Carts filled sky high with meaningless toys
for all the wee spoiled ones - the girls and the boys.
(those self-centered, self-indulgent, entitled,
narcissistic, uncontrollable, unbearable, whining
whimpering, crying, badgering little F***ers)
(sorry, where was I?)
The junk that dads want all make noise, blink, and whir
while the moms want a gift that will...

A New "App"
Where is the 'app' to chew my food?
Where is the 'app' to tie my shoes?
Where is the 'app' to go to the bathroom for me
so I don't have to move my fat ass away
from the computer?
Where is the 'app' to walk and run?
I mean, 'apps' have replaced my brain, why not
the rest of me?

A Valentine's Wish
(this was a request from my wife, for her on Valentine's day. It also was runner up in the 'Love..anniversary' contest)
You wish me to write
a poem for you,
a Valentine's Day love note -
a task hard to do.
I'll give it a try
'cause it's what you desire,
and to grant you your wish
is to what I will aspire.
I'll try not to be corny
nor silly, or cliche,
so here I begin
this intimate fray.
My greatest desire is
to be with you...
You wish me to write
a poem for you,
a Valentine's Day love note -
a task hard to do.
I'll give it a try
'cause it's what you desire,
and to grant you your wish
is to what I will aspire.
I'll try not to be corny
nor silly, or cliche,

The End of Ignorance
Come with me
let's fly away
to another place
where we can pray for
the redemption of man
through common sense
lifting the darkness
of ignorance.
On our knees,
hands raised high,
Mother Earth
Father Sky
restore the balance
before end of days;
we can't fall victim
to 'come what may'.
Let's lift our heads
out of the sand
before time runs out
(EXTINCTION!)
for the son of man.
let's fly away

Rush, Rush, Rush
(dedicated in horror of the monstrosity that is Black Friday)
Rush, rush, rush;
for days, head of this line.
To have the latest gadget,
it must be first mine.
YOU'RE FIRED!
"We have the exclusive!"
"You'll hear it here first!"
"We bring it to you live!"
(sometimes good, but mostly the worst)
SPECULATE! MISINFORM!
The IPO hit
and I must have my share;
quickly inflating the bubble,
POP! I have nothing to wear.
SHOTGUN BLAST!
Late for work, ...
Rush, rush, rush;
for days, head of this line.

Eyes are closing
heartbeat is slowing
muscles relaxing
brainwaves collapsing
(drifting... drifting)
To a distant place
in far out space
I finally see
where I want to be
(yearning... yearning)
Silent and still
on a lonely hill
I stand in peace.

buttons
levers
TV screens
slaves to the control machines

profits made
1% dance upon our graves
scotch
cigars
slicked back hair
sitting in their easy chairs
backs are bent
workers spent
blood is sold
to make the rent
enough's enough
rise up
rebel
