Stupid Little Dolls
You wanted reality back,
I stared at you, mouth agape, ‘cause I’d the entire nostalgic lack
down pat. Plus a dozen issues with neuroticism
and being born under the moon molded my sarcasm.
But that wasn’t what you saw –
you still saw a girl sweeter than candy;
moodier than a mood-stone, struck with inhumane human flaws.
I wonder what you saw, with a brain laced with brandy.
You held my hand –
that was perhaps the third date we were on – and
ran a finger cold as fear down my back.
I felt your feelings more than you did,...

Starred Cats && the Doll from My Dreams
So how do I even begin to write this year out
when the space of the Universe has already been littered with my petty shouts.
So you painted a picture and cut a hole in my reality
the size/shape of my heart and you demarcated my eternity.
I thought forever was the only thing we had –
the truths we told, blemished with the pretty, foolish lies of a goddamn cad –
oh I’m sorry this isn’t supposed to be about you,
so let me start all over again: Act my part, take my place on this stage of fools.
Saying I’m sorry, saying I loved this year oh-so truthfully...

The New World
There is a land where we live and breathe the essence of truth and reality.
A world where love is its founder, and its own sacralised religion.
Where we kneel on grounds made of daisy petals and rainbow flour, and pray for kindness and peace every midnight under the full moon.
The moon is always perfect and round – golden and shiny, happy and free.
We, the citizens of this New World, will pledge to love and cherish one another. Forever and always.
The sun drifts up every dawn at 6AM, and wakes the singing birds first.
The rest of us – humans and animals, plants and...

My Greatest Sin
I think, perhaps we need a reality check,
something that could renounce my truth and prove a fact.
I stare out at the abyss and see your face smiling back at me,
sadly, softly, knowingly, and you were always the one who broke me down, can’t you see.
I walked that tightrope of life for you
these past two years, crying my heart out and smiling like a fool.
I lost everything because of who I am,
and you’re still you, living a goddamn sham.
You always make me so contrived,
writing such ugly pain and insanity derived
from the sores that...

I Hate Myself When I’m With You
You came as a faceless entity,
an endlessly recurring eternity.
I sneered and I shrieked,
telling everyone it wasn’t real, that you were a freak.
The moment of truth hit me in minute amounts,
giving me time and false hope, but I’d never surmount.
I think I gave too much away,
and then came the day the rainstorm melted the clay.
I held up my end of the bargain for long enough,
yes, you gave me whatever I wanted, but in the end, it’s all just a laugh.
Perhaps we should part ways,
before this drags too far, losing its beauty, and miring...

Contrite
So I couldn’t be a better person, not without you by my side,
reminding me of hopeless reality and its fantasy behind.
I didn’t realize just how horrid it must be for you
to always star in my stories and dreams like a goddamn fool.
Without the memory of forever,
tell me, can we create a better together.
But not as lovers, and perhaps not as friends,
seeing as how you hate my guts to the core, and demean my earthly portents.
I know you didn’t want any story,
but I still captured you in my dream diary and varied pretty poetry.
So it’s only...
