POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I wish I had the strength of a tiger, but in truth I'm as fragile as glass.

Poet
Paint, poet.
Dip and fill your waiting pen
With purple drops of liquid dream…
Forget your smudges, forget the scars
And lift your brush to stroke the stars…
Sketch a sunset raging red,
Draw the clouds with swirling hand,
Knit the ripples of a silent sea
From your screaming lonely soul…
Stand, poet.
Prouder than a mountain pine,
Let the North Wind
Rip and crack your aching branches…
Now spin your shattered, broken pieces
Into a ragged tapestry
Of toothy, gnarled strength…
Cook, poet.
Gather up...
Dip and fill your waiting pen
With purple drops of liquid dream…
Forget your smudges, forget the scars
And lift your brush to stroke the stars…
Sketch a sunset raging red,
Draw the clouds with swirling hand,
Knit the ripples of a silent sea
From your screaming lonely soul…
Stand, poet.
Prouder than a mountain pine,
Let the North Wind
Rip and crack your aching branches…
Now spin your shattered, broken pieces
Into a ragged tapestry
Of toothy, gnarled strength…
Cook, poet.
Gather up...

Daphne's Lullaby
Make my bed beneath the willow
Let me watch the stars tonight.
The dewy grass will be my pillow
And fireflies will be my light.
Let me slumber by the river,
Find my peace among the reeds.
In the shadows let me shiver—
Open sky is what I need.
The wind will croon its soothing song
As the sun sinks from the sky.
Though the night be deep and long,
Let the forest close my eyes.
Let me watch the stars tonight.
The dewy grass will be my pillow
And fireflies will be my light.
Let me slumber by the river,
Find my peace among the reeds.
In the shadows let me shiver—
Open sky is what I need.
The wind will croon its soothing song
As the sun sinks from the sky.
Though the night be deep and long,
Let the forest close my eyes.

Song of the Rain
Listen to the rain,
Softly falling
Gently calling
Come, come
Join the dance,
Take your chance
Hear our chant
Dream of peace.
Softly falling
Gently calling
Come, come
Join the dance,
Take your chance
Hear our chant
Dream of peace.

Control
Demon in my bones,
Slowly oozing, leeching strength
Acid burning in my throat; bile rising
Hands tremble, nails purple
I'm
So cold...
Tired skin stretched
Paper-thin over brittle bones
Glazed, staring eyes
Sunk in sockets cavernous
As the soul
They reflect
Nothing left save the drive,
The demon
The slavemaster
The fiend
The friend
Comforting with control
Control my body
Control my mind
Control my life...
Anorexia, you're killing me.
Slowly oozing, leeching strength
Acid burning in my throat; bile rising
Hands tremble, nails purple
I'm
So cold...
Tired skin stretched
Paper-thin over brittle bones
Glazed, staring eyes
Sunk in sockets cavernous
As the soul
They reflect
Nothing left save the drive,
The demon
The slavemaster
The fiend
The friend
Comforting with control
Control my body
Control my mind
Control my life...
Anorexia, you're killing me.

Haiku II
Winter tucks silent
Blanket 'round shriveled shoulders
Of slumbering Earth.

Haiku I
Crisp as red apples
Autumn breeze scatters sunlight
On the tired leaves.

Poem Q: Quatrain
My small quatrain is poor and rough
For you, my love, my sky and sea...
But perhaps four lines is just enough
To say how much you mean to me.
For you, my love, my sky and sea...
But perhaps four lines is just enough
To say how much you mean to me.

Of Sea and Sky
Sea
Huge, wild
Rippling, moving, sparkling
Deep, frothy, bright, cold
Shifting, changing, shining
Vast, blue
Sky
Huge, wild
Rippling, moving, sparkling
Deep, frothy, bright, cold
Shifting, changing, shining
Vast, blue

Mirror, Mirror
I look into the mirror,
This is what I see--
I see a skeleton
Staring back at me.
Her cheeks are pale,
Her eyes are huge,
I wonder how much longer
She will choose
To starve herself to skin and bones...
Her heartbeat's close to stopping--
I wonder if she knows?
This is what I see--
I see a skeleton
Staring back at me.
Her cheeks are pale,
Her eyes are huge,
I wonder how much longer
She will choose
To starve herself to skin and bones...
Her heartbeat's close to stopping--
I wonder if she knows?

Butterflies In My Stomach
Poetry
Is beating its
Butterfly wings
Against the bars
Of my ribcage
If I don't hurry
It'll be melted by
The acid in my stomach
But I'm afraid
Of blotting the page.
Is beating its
Butterfly wings
Against the bars
Of my ribcage
If I don't hurry
It'll be melted by
The acid in my stomach
But I'm afraid
Of blotting the page.
