here comes dawn
singing freedom,
glowing with gifts
of song,
roused and gazed
strong,
sweet singer,
last nights tune
leading
this morning
beautiful and light,
immortal
early dew fell
on flooded
rooftops,
drowned
and strained
to hear you sing.

there,
just above
my fake smile
is the real me,
not too many
get close
enough
to understand
what lies
hidden away
behind
this decorated
mask i wear,
the bleeding
tears
shed,
the tortured soul
stacked
like treasure
in boxes
of human emotions
no one
is able
to unlock.

another gone day
again
this early morning
ecstasy
flooding my mind
with chases
of light,
shadows darting
in and out
of imaginable
works,
how he travels
so well,
trying
not to bump
against
the sharp edges
of darkness,
careful
not to bruise
his skin.

i could not
help myself,
i did stare
at the nakedness,
i wanted
to turn away
but something
kept my eyes
fixated upon
her very frame,
it was not pity,
less than lust,
that poor tree,
bare
of all her fruit.

wading
i am trying my best
to hide away
from everything i know,
everything i cannot
understand,
these blood-stained
memories
scatter my hope
across senseless waters,
i dress the part
but yet, i refuse
to leave the safety
of my home,
i want to dance
but there is no music
loud enough
to cover my screams,
no light
bright enough
to blind my thoughts
of the things
i have looked upon,
in my life
i have waded
in too deep,
maybe i can
get the chance
to stay on the bottom ...
to hide away
from everything i know,
everything i cannot
understand,
