Fake
You're knocking, but no one is home.
You will never be allowed inside.
This is MY pain, MY tears, MY rejected soul,
MY fucking place to sit and hide.
So, you would like admittance, please?
Holding your hand out for the backstage pass.
Keep tearing off those thick layers hoping
To see who I really, truly am...at last.
But this closet has the strongest deadbolt,
Bullet proof windows, and sound proof walls.
No peephole for you all to watch and laugh
While I take another god damn fall.
Go to work diligently on the door ...
You will never be allowed inside.

Death
A wounded, bleeding animal.
I make my way to the wood-line
To find somewhere comfortable
Enough to lay down and die.
Crimson pours from open wounds.
Head spinning with pulsing pain.
Trembling lips want to give way
At the feel of the first drops of rain.
Lightning bolts of agony explode inside.
A struggle for each shuddering breath.
A surrender to this natural process.
A prayer to a god I don't worship.
Full life unfolds before me
In a slideshow full of horrors.
Of love, and loss, regret, and tears. ...
I make my way to the wood-line
To find somewhere comfortable

I Rise
Held it together for quite a while this time,
But life came around and took a lick.
The one you trust will leave you ashes.
But, I forgot, I am the Phoenix.
Lying, un-stirred by the breath of anyone living.
Dry, stale, filthy, a pile of ashes,
But, oh yes, I am the Phoenix.
The fucking queen of detachment!
Well-versed in failing at this life,
So why is it still so hard to say goodbye?
Because I am the mother fucking Phoenix
And still must fall to filthy ash before I rise.
And so the fake smiles fall away.
I'm...

Skipping Tracks
Every minute we share is a blessing.
I'm trying so hard, but this is new.
I think we should commit to this.
I'm already in love with you.
And the Ferris wheel goes round again.
And I brace myself for this old game.
Quick reminder to this self of who I am.
Shake it off to live more of the same.
I wasn't speaking inappropriately to others.
By the way baby girl, I have a few suggestions,
Sprinkled throughout with a gentle critique or two,
But I added those sugary sweet lies by the ton.
And the Ferris wheel goes round...
