Downtown Toronto,
shop front on dodgy block hosts groovy show.
How jolly!
Forty boho hobos, long of tooth,
toot obos, hoot horns,
clonk gongs, bop bongos.
Two bozos on obos of wood do solos—
two old boys on form!
Dozy hobos forgot words to songs
or how to hold gongs.
Horns now honk. Discord!
How folky.
Boozy old hobo on bongos looks lost.
Bozo who owns dowdy wood hoody
flogs lots of goods
(CDs, on mono only - no promo!).
Now out of stock.

Univocalic (I): Gym Tricks
I spy its sign:
'MISSISSIPPI GYM. TRY GYM TRICKS!
Bring drink; bring gym kit'.
I think I'll visit it!
I spy kids sprinting, flipping, twisting!
In pink, girl child swings;
high flight; flippy twist; stick!
First trick: I climb.
I swing—
skin rips!
I try rings.
Cling, swing; fix limbs still.
Flip... SIT!
Sigh.
I'm trying!
This fit kid sprints;
sticks his skills;
shifts his limbs;
flick, twist.
I might try twisting.
I sprint. I twist my hips.
PING! In pit.
Sprint, twist, spring, twist! ...

Remember the December weekend
when we went There?
We were free!
Bed; sleep; zen!
Yet...
extreme freeze!
We were very peeved.
Trees were bent by the breeze;
the cement, the green—
deep sheet; gentle sheen.
Brr!
Where's my vest?
The vestments? The helmets?
Tremble, freeze, eek!
Remedy: expend restless, excess energy.
Flex feet, flex knees;
exert selves.
Deep freeze.
Breeze between zephyr, vent.
Help!
Hey! New jeep!
Wheels repel elements.
Whee!

What a warm day!
Carry a damp bag;
hang a damp wash.
Stand back.
A small black cat ran past;
at a grassy patch, sat.
Had a play—
paws at that wash:
bat, tap and pat at wash.
Bat bat bat!
Tap tap tap!
Pat pat pat!
Cat back.
Glad small black cat
sat at path!
Brash, gallant cat can dash
past hatch!
Ha ha!
Salaam!
A snack?
Cat sat and drank,
had a raw snack,
and a pat,
and a wash;
crazy lass!
At last,
cat back at that...

Homophonically speaking
Do you remember those days that past in a daze;
those nights when, like a knight, you swept me up in your arms?
After dessert, we'd watch as our friends would desert the dance floor.
We whirled around, you and me, alone in our own little world.
It didn't take two too much effort to tango back in those days -
through our youth, when we threw our most elaborate moves.
Our hearts and souls connected through the soles of our feet.
Here and now, I hear that familiar musical strain, curling around my ears
and I wonder whether we could weather an impromptu...

Lies.
Truth.
Which one?
Does anybody know?
Is truth an absolute phenomenon,
always valid, unchanging, for all, regardless of context?
Or is it a relative, shifting complexity, dependent on one's beliefs and viewpoint?
I searched for the answer in something reliable - mathematics -
figuring that shapes and calculations are facts, and figures do not lie;
only for points of reference to change,
in such realms as imaginary numbers and non-Cartesian geometry.
What was true in three-dimensional...

A breaded red cabbage
"Dad, grab a car -
a cab -
a red cab!"
Dad grabbed a red cab;
raced afar;
a bad, drab cafe (feared area!)
Bearded Dad dared,
"Cabbage! Carb!
A breaded cabbage.
A breaded red cabbage -
a fadge.
Add a carafe; decaf!"
Aged, eager badger acceded.
Dad raged,
"Bad bread!
Regard degraded cabbage!"
Begged a free feed.
Badger gabbed,
"barefaced greed!"
Dad badgered,
"A free feed! Fab!"
Farce!
Badger fed...

Undo me
When I look back
and consider the darkness,
acknowledgement dawns:
I played my part.
Genetics or influence?
Nature or nurture?
Perhaps both—
nobody's perfect
but the biggest mistake I made
is believing you.
Somebody needs to believe IN you,
and my faith in you will never diminish.
Believing you is something else.
Now you say what you think I want to hear.
Hankering after the days
when you were straight as a die,
I choose to believe you,
until the truth undoes you.
Still, I keep on thinking...

Four letter words
i) fore word
Just some talk here,
then your main poem.
Ears open? Good!
Eyes wide? Yeah!
Take care!
ii) four word
Can't stop this ride!
Your life zips past
with fast pace;
full pelt.
Walk, then rise, then dash.
Life will seem long,
Much like soft rain,
tame wind,
can't stay here,
life ends; gone soon.
Thus, view each hour with care;
some good, some fine.
Take time; feel each feel:
love, fear, rage, zeal.
Even lows help grow hope.
Work hard? Earn more?

Fallow
Consider the field that stretches out ahead;
you say that nothing has grown there for years
and that might be true,
but NOTHING has been wasted.
Not time,
not energy,
not opportunity.
The land that has been left to stand,
fallow,
is full of fertile soil
and rich with promise for the future.
Let me help you pull out the weeds
and plant the field well.
Nurture it with love and care;
water and light and good food.
Have patience and hope,
then wait to see what is going to grow.

Piem (Ode to the first 100 decimal places of pi)
Now...
I hope I write something to remind
brain and voice together (unaligned)
develop mnemonics for pi—
its decimals have passed by!
Digits make the odd, unending row
in totally haphazard order;
bravissimo!
So numerous,
humorous;
look, I recognise doubles -
a couple - advancing!
Say, "Enchantée!" "Delighted!";
the doubled nines a-bromancing.
Other decimals, to underscore,
undertake hijacks,
give lifehacks;
what, more?

Lexicographical Interdependence
Day 1: one-syllable words;
Day 2: two-letter words;
Day 3: three-letter words;
Day 4: what could this mean?
Spotting the pattern, said he,
"I'm looking forward to the later rounds...!"
She replied,
"as if I'm going to keep this up for a month!
They take hours, and aren't that good!
Here are my self-imposed criteria;
I urge you to give it a go!"
"Oh," said he,
"you have to do one with 15-letter words,
that's only halfway!"
"Shut up, David!" ...
