Got more than my daily dose
of vitamin “D”
which hurriedly knocked me
into a lackadaisical stupor
I did not feel like writing,
let alone, anything worth
accomplishing to
fruition
so I took me a lengthy nap
Woke up thinking about
the poker game
with the neighbors, yesterday
and 3 of us trying to
explain to one the
interaction (definition) of
Quantum Entanglement
with varied success.

My Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
is trying to keep me alive, longer
No idea why
as I felt the US Air Force
never intended to use
my expertise in that
which I am totally capable
in seeing the task, the goal
to its end
Fellow Veterans, who,

I scooped her up
gently carried her
to the other side
of the road
I know better than
to touch or
bother wildlife
but the cars
speeding past my
parked location
Damn! Moving too
fast – no way
would they see her
in time to swerve
to stop
My good deed for the day
going unnoticed
maybe even
unappreciated
I still managed a
smile as I took a

Desert Tortoise
slowly...

So I know I should feel no
stress in filing my Taxes
late on today’s last day
getting that crucial
postmark stamp
I owe nothing
will get nothing
So wondering
why I rushed around

together?!
I know the paperwork
could have lapsed

When I am in the mood to ponder
I’ve discovered
in the absence of everyday din
at dusk
at dawn
no highway traffic
no owls hooting
or javelinas playful grunts
no orange cardinal
calling out to mate
or howling coyotes
no computers on
or streaming news
for me,
zazen comes easily
naturally
also, it is a boon
when I can’t remember
what I had for supper
the day before

I drank the gods’ libations
assured I’d be spilling my guts
and thick spit on ancient

their parchment

Often feels like never
yet knowing it’s been
along, long time
Forever
Since I’ve had to stop
being indolent
and write.
A year of only daily journaling
makes me rusty
where thoughts chip away
at my creativity.
The submissive in me
I suppose,
causes me to sign up to
the challenge of
writing one spill a day
for thirty days
I KNOW I can vomit crap
wth little effort
It’s the attempt to spit
quality thick saliva
that is not that simple ...
