POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
The experiments continue; elements combine and react; new substances form; old ideas disintegrate; lenses filter, focus and reflect; the scientist and the lab rat – indistinguishable.
WHO KNOWS?
I LOVED HER ONCE
BUT THAT WAS LONG AGO
SHE LOVED ME TOO
HOW MUCH I'LL NEVER KNOW
I LOVE HER STILL
BUT HAD TO LET HER GO
I ALWAYS WILL
HOW MUCH SHE'LL NEVER KNOW
BUT THAT WAS LONG AGO
SHE LOVED ME TOO
HOW MUCH I'LL NEVER KNOW
I LOVE HER STILL
BUT HAD TO LET HER GO
I ALWAYS WILL
HOW MUCH SHE'LL NEVER KNOW

NUMBER 1
YOU’RE NUMBER 1 FOR ME
ON MY MURDER LIST THAT IS
ALL THE OTHER PRICKS AND BITCHES
OVER THE YEARS HAVE COME AND GONE
THROUGH MY LIFE ON AND OFF MY LIST
BUT NOT YOU YOU’RE STILL THERE
RIGHT AT THE TOP WHERE YOU BELONG
IN FACT AT THE MOMENT YOU ARE MY LIST
THERE’S NO-ONE ELSE ON IT BUT YOU
IF I HAD A GUN AND LUCKY I DON’T
I’D SHOOT YOU RIGHT THROUGH THE EYE
AND IF THERE WAS ANYTHING LEFT
OF YOUR COCK-SURE CURLY ARROGANT HEAD
I’D SHOOT YOU THROUGH THE OTHER EYE TOO
JUST TO BE SURE TO BE SURE
YEAH IT’S GOT SOMETHING TO DO WITH HER...
ON MY MURDER LIST THAT IS
ALL THE OTHER PRICKS AND BITCHES
OVER THE YEARS HAVE COME AND GONE

THOSE f**k ME BOOTS
SHE WORE HER FUCK ME BOOTS
WHAT DOES SHE HAVE IN MIND?
MAYBE A COWGIRL THING?
OR IS SHE SOMEONE’S SQAW?
COULD SHE WANT TO GET LAID?
OR MAYBE SOMETHING MORE?
SHE’S KIND OF CUTE HE THOUGHT
AND HAS A ZEST FOR LIFE
IS SHE LOOKING FOR FUN?
WHO KNOWS WHAT’S IN HER HEAD?
HE HAD NOTHING TO LOSE
AND EVERYTHING TO GAIN
HIS ADRENALINE PUMPED
AND THE PRESSURE WAS ON
ALL THIS WAS NEWS TO HER
SHE DANCED ON WITH HER FRIENDS
BUT HE HAD CAUGHT HER EYE
THROUGH THE CROWD AND THE LIGHT
KIND OF SWEET A BIT SHY
HE SHRUNK AND TURNED AWAY...
WHAT DOES SHE HAVE IN MIND?

OR IS SHE SOMEONE’S SQAW?

Sweet Rain
There was a time
When every poem
Was a love song
And every word
Tasted of you
Where hands held
Warm thoughts
And fingers touched
And twirled
Like ballerinas
There was a time
When you were
My reason
And you were
My rhyme
When your spring
Was my season
And my winter
Went all but blind
Such a time
Full of flowers
Full of sunshine
And never enough
Precious hours
To be with you
Like long hot showers
On icy mornings
And steamy breaths ...
When every poem
Was a love song
And every word
Tasted of you
Where hands held
Warm thoughts
And fingers touched
And twirled
Like ballerinas
There was a time
When you were
My reason
And you were
My rhyme
When your spring

And my winter

Such a time
Full of flowers
Full of sunshine
And never enough

Ode to a Girl with Perfect Lips
Half a kiss from those full lips
Why did I have to go?
Because it was late
And the morning sun
Was up and waiting
I couldn’t work
I couldn’t think
My mind was yours
Developing photos
In dark red light
Secretly in my room
When I saw you next
In the bar alone
You ignored me so well
It hurt but I liked it
Not knowing why
But it seemed right
Then the next time
You were fine again
Clear skinned eyes bright
Smile like a dream
And half a kiss
From those full lips
Oh yes
Half a kiss...
Why did I have to go?
Because it was late
And the morning sun
Was up and waiting
I couldn’t work
I couldn’t think
My mind was yours
Developing photos
In dark red light
Secretly in my room
When I saw you next
In the bar alone
You ignored me so well
It hurt but I liked it
Not knowing why

You were fine again

Beautiful Things
I need to let you know
In case you’ve forgotten
Or never realized to begin with
That you’re all beautiful
I’m not just saying it
I really mean it
Let me try and explain
You see, every day
On TV and at work
There’s all this horror
So whenever I get out
And escape from it all
And I’m blessed with time
To pause and look
Sometimes I get to really see
And if I’m very lucky
I watch with wonder
As everyday things come alive
I’ve always had a sentimental streak
I become attached to things
Like my old second-hand cars...
In case you’ve forgotten
Or never realized to begin with
That you’re all beautiful
I’m not just saying it
I really mean it
Let me try and explain
You see, every day
On TV and at work
There’s all this horror

Ghosts of the Sea
She is the moon
And he is the sea
Without her he knows
He ceases to be
The sirens he hears
Were all sent by she
They are just fears
Ghosts that he flees
Wrecks on the beds
Shells of his seas
And he is the sea
Without her he knows
He ceases to be
The sirens he hears
Were all sent by she
They are just fears
Ghosts that he flees
Wrecks on the beds
Shells of his seas

Two Way Mirror
Oh ugliness
This mask
That grows upon me
With age
Dear friend
Such a gift you give
The virtuous vision
Of the sage
To see the truth
The curse though
Is it sees you too
This mask
That grows upon me
With age
Dear friend
Such a gift you give
The virtuous vision
Of the sage
To see the truth
The curse though
Is it sees you too

Seeing Me
Sure she’s ugly
But she’s someone’s daughter
Someone’s little girl
And to her daddy
She’s a princess
We’re all ugly
In some way
How we look
The way we see
And is that wrong?
I don’t know
Who made me judge?
Oh yes …
That would have been me
But she’s someone’s daughter
Someone’s little girl
And to her daddy
She’s a princess
We’re all ugly
In some way
How we look
The way we see
And is that wrong?

Choose Your Poison
So ...
You wanna get
Fucked up
On a scale
Of one to ten
Where one is
A little tipsy
And ten is
Dead
What will it be?
Pick a number
And make it count
Don’t be flippant
I’m reasonably
Serious
How sharp?
Is the edge
You’re looking for
Bread knife
Or razor blade
The dull scratch
Or a nice
Clean slice
Clocks are ticking
But don’t be
Rushed
By cold hands
And unseeing
Faces
Choose your poison
Carefully
Another crossroad
Take your time
You wanna get
Fucked up
On a scale
Of one to ten
Where one is
A little tipsy
And ten is
Dead
What will it be?
Pick a number
And make it count

Hate
Carried
Hard heavy
Long black sack
White nylon noose
Digs in
Hurts
Hung tight
Grip relaxes
Releases
Dumb thud
Useless corpse
Unfeeling
Staring back
Blindly
Pain goes
Grimace follows
Fingers flex
Pink sorrow
Marks fade
Brute bag dragged
Somewhere else
A corner
Propped up proud
Cold wall witness
Alone for now
Until the return
Bastard smirking
Torn mouth
Cavity eyes
Hunched darkly
Madly twisted
Victims’ shuffle
Haunting shadow
Afraid to go
Happy...
