POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
The Long Story Short
This story's too long
And I long for the end.
I know I've done wrong
And God knows I have sinned.
So I might not get through
In His Glorious Gate.
But I'll accept what I get
Even a fiery fate.
'Cause I'm done with it all
And you can take it away.
I didn't know what to do
I never knew what to say.
I'm just a pawn in the game
And I don't want to play.
This story's too long
Far too long.
What more can I say?
And I long for the end.
I know I've done wrong
And God knows I have sinned.
So I might not get through
In His Glorious Gate.
But I'll accept what I get
Even a fiery fate.
'Cause I'm done with it all
And you can take it away.
I didn't know what to do
I never knew what to say.
I'm just a pawn in the game
And I don't want to play.
This story's too long
Far too long.
What more can I say?

My Father is Forever
I found my peace in hell,
Done in by dragon’s breath.
Onto my knees I fell,
Into a soulless death.
My father is forever,
Through death and desolation.
For his crying rivers,
A rock of consolation.
Walking in his shadow,
My shoulders stand up straighter.
A path to doing better,
Makes good sooner or later.
The bearing of my burden,
Like talons in my torso,
Gives reason to my rising,
A purpose even more so.
Done in by dragon’s breath.
Onto my knees I fell,
Into a soulless death.
My father is forever,
Through death and desolation.
For his crying rivers,
A rock of consolation.
Walking in his shadow,
My shoulders stand up straighter.

Makes good sooner or later.

Like talons in my torso,
Gives reason to my rising,
A purpose even more so.

Pass another drink for me.
I know it sounds wild,
When you're just a child,
That drinkin' might set a man free.
Give me an hour, two, maybe three.
Here's to chaos and order
And me on the border.
Please pass another drink to me.
Would you pass another drink for me?
Here's to askin' her will you?
Here's to copin' that kills you
Please pass another drink to me.
Would you pass another drink for me?
Here's to holdin' a baby,
Here's to one more--just maybe.
Please pass another drink to me.
Would you pass another drink for me?

A Turtle named Yertle
There was a turtle named Yertle--a clever fellow.
He lived in a marsh where the wind was mellow.
One warm day, to his own surprise,
he found his mind could see so much further than his eyes.
'Oh such lands that I could own! If only the sight of such I was shown!'
'If only a stone could become like a throne, so much more land on my stand I could own!'
On this warm day, with such an ambition, the little turtle climbed to a higher position.
On the top of a stone, oh what sights he could see!
Taller than all turtles--so...

Gentlemen
Little hands around you—solemn soldier toy.
Storms outside surround your sleeping hero boy.
Alas! Amass dear gentlemen,
Your foes now row ashore.
Surprise! All wise and wearied men—again I call you more.
Light the fright in fools afar lest they come here cold.
For daughters and good mothers—the souls not to be sold.
Rise up! All true gentlemen—garner here a horde.
Stones pile on the parapets and arms drive for the ford.
Calling every gentleman! Steel and anvil strike.
Red blood beyond the waterway—carries the pagan pike.
Goodnight,...

Wander
Still—I wonder—will you wander?
With me while my wiles ponder—now—forever now.
I wander.
How have smiles hid your hating?
Have to hold on—contemplating—now—forever now.
Now I wander.
Fears unfading for all feeling.
Looking down hides every ceiling.
Thus, now I wander.
Walking, wishing, lost in losing.
Choices past the point of choosing—still—here we are and will…
Will you wander?
With me while my wiles ponder—now—forever now.
I wander.
How have smiles hid your hating?
Have to hold on—contemplating—now—forever now.

Sad
Sad,
I'm feeling sad.
Mad,
You get so mad.
Bad,
I've got a rope...
Now,
Past goes all hope.
Dead,
Rope round my head.
Spoke,
Things I have said.
Cried,
eyes 'til they died.
What I couldn't take,
Death will,
I tried.
I'm feeling sad.
Mad,
You get so mad.
Bad,

If Only
If only she had seen.
Now my life could mean--something more to me.
And yet this has to be.
Dead--how I died inside.
pains--only a heart could hide.
Buried alive.
Dying to thrive.
Walks, talks, smiles and tears, driving over places… Fears.
Yet here I am--aware the scam.
What a fool was I? Just for good.
So good--a lie.
With honor and truth lay dead the youth.
If only I believed, could I leave myself deceived?
Still unaware.
Knowing only love and care.
Now my life could mean--something more to me.
And yet this has to be.
Dead--how I died inside.

Indignation and Lies
Such a disguise—indignation and lies.
Who cares? Who shares the times he tries?
So well… Oh well.

So well… Oh well.

This Way
I didn’t wanna see you cry.
I didn’t wanna hear you lie.
But it’s okay—It turns out this way.
I didn’t wanna lose my mind.
I didn’t wanna break inside.
But it’s okay—It turns out this way.
Walkin’ on tower stairs, leaves blowing through your hairs.
Oh yeah, I see—natural beauty.
But I didn’t wanna feel this way.
No, I didn’t wanna have to say—I’m not okay.
But it’s okay.
Long hours lost in bed,
those thoughts we tossed instead of losin’ time—tryin’ to climb.
Walkin’ on younger feet, talkin’ about deceit.
Oh yes, I said,...
I didn’t wanna hear you lie.
But it’s okay—It turns out this way.
I didn’t wanna lose my mind.
I didn’t wanna break inside.

Unspoken Cure
Words fly and fall—what’s another one said?
Trying to live—when in the end we’re all dead.
What words could be… Eternity?
I’ve come to see—it can be said,
just not with words, listen instead.
Maybe you’ll hear my unspoken cure.
Trying to live—when in the end we’re all dead.
What words could be… Eternity?
I’ve come to see—it can be said,
just not with words, listen instead.
Maybe you’ll hear my unspoken cure.
