The Blacksheep
searching, in nature;
i always wandered off from home
a lonesome creature,
i always felt safer on my own
watch another sunrise
cry and contemplate
the love i lost
and that which turned to hate
trade one for another
step through another gateway
eyes closed except for the other
dead to the world, lest the truth
slip away
here's to prophecy
and the self, nelgected
god named me
and left me, dejected
i had a mind to love you
but what's family without blood
i spoke what was true ...

Haze
Potent as the silence
That lies between us
Desperate as the incense
Trying to mask this
Lingering bouquet
I wish it was flowers
Echoes slowly decay
Into the lingering hours
Slow my mind
Dream another time
The truth I find
Has no rhythm or rhyme
I'm slowly fading away
Find it harder to breathe
Smoke another and watch it fall away
Vision goes and I've nothing left to say

Straw House
Knock three times and blow your house down
Watching you scratch from atop the cloud
Open up and watch them all drown
I'm screaming without making a sound
All I wanted was a piece
All I needed was to hear
All I got was rot and disease
All you had was the fear
I'd find you out
Snap your fingers and my attention breaks
Demanding more than what it takes
Hold back the rage till my eyes leak
Slam the door and toss the key away
All I wanted was a ghost
All I needed was a hand
All I got was codependence ...

Of all the flowers in the garden
The perfection, shy a petal
A taste like undiscovered heaven
And chromed gun metal
I found the snakes
you said would never bite
I burned the saints
you said would protect me
So you think you're like me
Have you swallowed the last you have

burn the notebook
sometimes i resent how the math adds up and how i failed
how it all makes sense, and how i hate how it is what it is
i've done enough reminiscing to see every detail
hammered each nail myself, no room for forgiveness
this time
i hate how you're getting exactly what you need, both ways
i'd say i tried, but i still see the look on your face when i walked away
for fuck sake
i still write about you

It's almost as romantic
As it is sad
You'll never know

It's as heartbreaking
As it is reassuring

Another Window
Another window, another dream
I never know what to call home anymore
Different voices, different faces
Disillusioned; I no longer know where my place is
Angry wind overpowers the heavy rain
As his screaming dulls the impact of your tears
One to drown, one to collapse
There’s no time to sleep tonight
Pull the curtains
Pull the curtains, darling
Pull them tight
I intend to offend
I mean to enlighten
I strive to define
What we never bring to light
Another chance to believe
Another opportunity...
I never know what to call home anymore

Grief
It starts here;
The beginning is always blank
Then you turn it on
it hurts at first, but then you let go
You stop and feel the music for a minute
Pound a few more keys
Hit it a few more times
Empty, you feel empty, yet filled to the brim
Like you've held it in so long
The idea of relief becomes panic
It becomes pain and then tears
You scream nothing but "why?"
Over and over and over again
It carries on
With or without you
It's your story
But you're not playing your part
That's okay ...

Crawling
sheltering the habit, we believe is weakness of the mind
no stronger than the body giving in; the truth i find
we're all waiting for miracles from gods we don't believe in
we pray hollow words with the hope they're stronger than wishes
pennies in the well; dollars in the plate, such a shallow faith
there's not much left of the hope we once clutched
desperately searching for the end of this tunnel
widening our eyes in vain; the light died out a long time ago
no longer is there poetry in life, no longer is there romance in death
it's just light and...

Red candles dripping down

Not unlike you to say yes
Content with time spent
Spent contorted and twisted

I never seem properly prepared
Deep in the belief you're the prey
Change again and show faces they never see
I never know who you are
And still you smile so precisely
Never hungry, but always wanting a bite
You kiss with a hunger
Others would shy from, spare the pain
Teeth like a wolf
