Happy doesn't stay, even after I do
Todays the day shes waited for since five years old.
Shes pulling up the lacy bodice, the petticoat of purple and blue
She's placing on her new shoes and lacing them up, something blue to pin the veil to her hair, something borrowed from her grandmother dangling from her wrist, and she has her old Letter to God stuffed down in her top, writing her specifications for you.
Looking in the oval mirror of the dressing room, final touches to her hair, her eye shadow flawless and perfectly blended, a little more color to her lips.

You think she scared cause the past she use to run from.
One night this thug from the 'port showed up and showed her what true strength was.
He screamed out, on my momma the nigga that made you cry will close his eyes for the last time.

Reached Peace
Reached Peace
These demons clawed their way into my dreams, every day holding on wide awake, crushing my chest and i feel like i will stumble, i will fall flat on my face.
At one point, i covored every mirror in my home, my weaknesd would not allow me to see the insecure monster i had become.
I seen friends who smiled and waved and i couldnt understand how they couldnt see what i seen moments ago, woken up screaming out of my sleep.
No, you couldnt understand.
Because perception is reality, and yours will never be the same as mine.

Things I've done
Sometimes I hold my breath while passing a cemetery,
Like its disrespectful for me to continue breathing
Because they've lost their chance to.
I still pick those dandelines and play "He loves me He loves me not"
Still holding onto the notion that this small flower can predict my future.
How impulsively childish.
How innocent that moments seem.
At 11:11 I still close my eyes to wish,
How silly I must seem to the people around me.
A grown woman, still believing that a wish could come true to save me.
I use pinky promises as a solid foundation...
