My Every Thought

Wondering why I think of you
Is it the softness of your lips
The gentle caress of fingers teasing every hair and fibre
The sweetness of smile
or eyes
that encircle my deepest thoughts
while my heart
R E T U N E S
to the key of your sultry voice
~ IF ~
emotion runs rampant
Explosion
surely follows
and there's no room for logic
since you fill my every thought
~~~

Little Green Laughter
~~
Sunlight sweeps above the dale
while shades of heather
lift their veil
Then gentle mist of morning
swirls
enhancing dawn
with nature's pearls
~
Songbird's flight encircles glen
to spot late crawler's
search for den
Yet...
not all that dwells in understory
hides this day...
this day's their glory
~
The songbirds flee... the piper grins
"Far Darrig O'Malice
yer at it again"
The silence broke
the wildwoods rustle
From near and far
the wee ones
hustle
~
The songs...

Return to Little Street
~~
Traditions lead to streets of dream
to scant abodes
beneath the green
So tiny
small
'neath gardens tall
with russet
stacked
above them all
~
Their chimneys waft
of fire's stoke
the meek step forth
though bashful folk
The pitter pat
of little feet
arise
the length
of Little Street
~
They take my hand as pipers chant
descend the street
with river's dance
Around about
the dancers croon
to every home
I'm blessed ...
buffoon
~
Tranquil glade...

I Must Leave

Listen
I must leave now for a while
Do not grieve or shed tears
Just hug your sorrows
then set them free

Greet new days with gallant smiles
for my sake
In my memory
live on
~
Change nothing
For one pining thought
unforgotten
gives grief one last reprieve
~
Reach out for me
Feel my heart
Never
ever
be afraid when you see me
waiting
in the sky
~~~

Heart-light
~~
Wait silently by the water's edge this evening
feel the sand slipping away beneath your toes
a lapping warmth
of rising tide at your ankles
Senses
detecting a familiarity
carried in from across the waves
A feathered breeze
caresses your cheek
Its fingers gently tousle your hair
Its breath finds the trail of a lonely tear
slowly
faintly
drying to its touch
You're feeling a kiss from those you miss
These feelings
returned in trust of the rising moon
Find heart-light ...

Drying Hearts
Incense bespoke without regret
within a hasty reckless shower
Entrusting hearts of love do split
beneath
a never blooming flower
~
Tears induced through heartless spieling
strike the floor by anger lured
Most resent their source of feeling
and crucify
with angry word
~
Venom drips from eyes tomorrow
with deadly seeded thoughts today
Roots entwining blot the sorrow
but dry the hearts
along the way
~~~

Empty Jack
~~
A distant sail on evening's set
no color binding form
an empty flask where you once sat
and kept my shoulder warm
~
Transparent
stripped
reminders gone
no keepsakes marking time
no lost refrain or captive song
depletes infectious rhyme

Revoking nights of shameless play
beneath a comber wave
where fervent sky entombing dusk
rent heart to looming grave
~
Conception nests in solitude

Rusted Smile
Hearts in memory drawn before us
haste display their vesting style
Daydreams shed and plead...
restore us
dancing o'er a rusted smile
~
Chancing fancies
may discover
heart-light cast
where sins may dwell
Shadow-darkened skies
recover
the isolation sought to quell
~
Sifting through those haunting traces
ringing round a fading light
Who might stop
and trade us faces
invest a smile
to warm the night

To the wise
that rise above us
bend an ear to wishing well

A Fading Valentine
Winded . . .
jogging the shoreline past knee high surf
shirt sullied
front to back
like Jack Frost at recess in the noonday sun
Huffing an extra moment
while puffing at the lakeside air
Musing at your approach
gazing puppet-like
to your breath-robbing stride
Enticing
yet demure
you side-step surf
framed with endless sand and comber wave
Passing within a smile's length
Synchronizing your intended dance
with a smiling glance
Only. . .
you're met with silence
while...
