POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Tired
Words
I don't know why you said them
Hurts
Not close to perfection
Days
I spend contemplating our end
Ways
To get back to myself again
Clocks
Shout that time is running out
Stop
This is not what love is about
Breathe
Heal
I forget the last time I smiled
Real
You are simply in denial
Drained
I've tried as hard as one can try
Pained
On the verge of breaking down inside
Nights
I wonder why I'm next to you
Lights
I search for in darkest truths
Why

Some Day
I don't know how long it is
That I have to resist everything
Hide all the truth in my heart
Every time we meet
Every time you turn from me
That I pretend to be still
Do you know how much I have to force myself
Can you hear that
My heart... is telling you
But I cannot reveal my true feelings to anyone
Though I feel it...
Deep inside isn't brave enough
Every time we meet...
Every time you turn from me
That I pretend to be still
Do you know how much I have to force myself
Can you hear that...
... so it...
That I have to resist everything
Hide all the truth in my heart
Every time we meet
Every time you turn from me
That I pretend to be still
Do you know how much I have to force myself
Can you hear that

Dark Story
The sharp wind whipped around the screen door as I stepped out into the recent dark. The smell of damp pavement, decaying leaves and the distant rumble of an approaching storm assault my senses. Copper streetlights are refracting light from every surface as dampness quickly seeps through my clothes. The muffled night is thrilling. The sounds of skittering leaves rattling like bones along the sidewalk and laden clouds hanging ominously overhead, lit occasionally by oddly refracted lightning. Stuffing my hands in my pockets and ducking my head I lean into the unstable wind that constantly keeps...

Petrified
Petrify thy tender heart, be not consumed by flames.
Fossilize, become as stone, before naught but ash remains.
Deafen ears to words of love, soft spoken but untrue.
Devotion’s shown by acts of faith, not whispers lied to you.
Blind the eyes, so often wet, vision blurred by bitter tears.
Block what sights you can’t accept; seek out not what you fear
Amputate hand from wrist, lest grasping fingers clutch,
Denying freedom to the one who loves you not as much
Seal loose lips with haste, refuse thy honeyed tongue
For if allowed to venture forth,...

Release
Hooded nib exposed
I take it in hand
Under cloak of darkness
Calloused, family-weary fingers
Curl intimately
Around its smooth girth
I begin the ancient rhythm
Slow, hesitant strokes
Coaxing, teasing
Gently kneading
Pleading for sweet release
Strokes grow bolder
Gun-fire quick
Furious, angry strokes
To wring forth
Streaming threads
Retreat, pace slows
As the last drips fall
Dreamily
Drop by sweet drop
Black pearls upon the page
Reading my words...

Forever Waiting
LIfe is never what we expect
Blindsided by circumstances out of our control
Soul rendering pain, briefly touching the physical surfaces
Worlds collapse and heaven’s gates are locked
There are no bandages to heal these wounds
No fight left within the barriers that confine you
A split moment decision that forever changes the colors painting your world
Freezing the hands of time becomes an obsession
Till each tick resounds with agony internally
Breath in, breath out... and wait
Forever waiting
Blindsided by circumstances out of our control
Soul rendering pain, briefly touching the physical surfaces
Worlds collapse and heaven’s gates are locked
There are no bandages to heal these wounds
No fight left within the barriers that confine you

Breath in, breath out... and wait
Forever waiting

Silence of the Woods
I drank in the silence of the gods
Springing forth from the darkened wood
And carried upon the drifting winds
I heard these ghostly words
“Start where you are
Use what you have
Do what you should”
Do not worry about the wind
Do not wait for it to change
And rather than complain
You should simply adjust your sails
After all
It’s not what you look at in life
That truly matters
But instead, it’s what you see
Thought has no age, no limit, no end
And every step we take ...
Springing forth from the darkened wood
And carried upon the drifting winds
I heard these ghostly words
“Start where you are
Use what you have
Do what you should”
Do not worry about the wind
Do not wait for it to change
And rather than complain
You should simply adjust your sails
After all

Thought has no age, no limit, no end

Where I Go
With the sun just beginning to set I head to the pure white sand of the beach to glory in the coming of the night. It is here that I can let my mind wander freely without the fear of intrusions. Lying at the edge the beach, the waves caress my warm skin like adoring kisses from a lover. I let my mind go blank and wait for calm to overtake me. As the sun sinks lower it engages the swells of the waves in a play of fire. I look north searching for my constant companion and see her rise in all her glory. Always, I am impressed with her radiant light, no other star shines as brightly. I say...

Dark Angel
My dark angel is gone
Even his wings, always a soft rustle of wind, are silent
My imagination has lost its grasp and like dissipating smoke
He fades into nonexistence
The silence rebounds upon itself
Building unbearable pressure
Every thought held prisoner in a teardrop
Distorted images of the world as I see it
At least the pain is something
It’s not like I didn’t know it would come to this
I only wish I could have stayed
For at least an eternity
Even his wings, always a soft rustle of wind, are silent
My imagination has lost its grasp and like dissipating smoke
He fades into nonexistence
The silence rebounds upon itself
Building unbearable pressure
Every thought held prisoner in a teardrop
Distorted images of the world as I see it
At least the pain is something
It’s not like I didn’t know it would come to this
I only wish I could have stayed
For at least an eternity

Weary
Once long ago when I was still an innocent
I thought the world was filled with truth and courage
More shame me, for bearing this torch alone
What burden this, for one lone soul to carry
Gladly would I give over to one true to the light
Where must I seek you, do not flee from me
I am vastly weary and would seek my place of interment
Come my knight of the dark take me unto your breast
Let me draw my last breath, your arms my heaven
Through glazed eyes and in her final breath, upon the hill he stood
Brilliant light...

Through glazed eyes and in her final breath, upon the hill he stood
