Being Alone With You
This big double bed,
I've got it all to myself,
It makes me smile,
But don't worry,
It's only worth being alone
Knowing I'm with you.
Cooking for one,
Washing up one plate,
One knife and fork,
One pan, because unlike you,
I don't use every piece of cooking equipment in the house,
It only makes me smile
Knowing I'm alone
And with you.
Flirting in the bar we met in,
Because I'm alone
Even though I'm with you.

It was before you were an item,
Before you fell in love,
Before I realised
I just wasn't enough.
It meant nothing to her,
She only loved you,
She didn't want me,
You know it's the truth.
So now you know,
I was there first,
You were the one,
Who acted the worst.
You were the cheat,

That has changed with the knowledge,

When I rollover to empty space.

Wish I Could Want You
Smile at me like that,
Or frown off into the distant sunset,
Disregard your worries,
Your stresses,
So I can be in awe of you.
'There's no point in worrying'
You say to me,
I just want you more.
On the periphery of my daydreams,
I won't let you any closer.
When I kiss you on the cheek,
Give you a hug as I leave,
After a few hours of companionship,
It's all I can do not to plead with you,
Tell you that I wish I could want you.

No less that 50 times today,
Have I heard the words
Seen the message,
Wished that you would
'Rest in Peace.'
To the beautiful man,
Who always had a smile,
A dream,
A bounce,
A need to prove
To everyone,
He could do whatever,
Whenever,
As long as he was pissed.
To the boy I knew,
Who shared his innermost thoughts,
With me,
Proclaimed undying love,
One night,
Woke up the next morning
Going 'who the fuck are you?'

Stuck in a loop.
It's the same old promise
I know I'll break,
With different terms,
The same ends.

What could I have done.
'I'll stop this path of self destruction'

Of drinking too much,
Hurting too much,

This Sofa
I am sitting on this sofa
Waiting to go to work.
Waiting for my ride,
From quite possibly
The only woman
I've ever loved and hated.
Sitting on this sofa,
I fell in love with her.
With her kids,
With her life,
Her aspirations, ambitions.
On this sofa,
After eighteen months of dreaming
I made my move.
I kissed the sweetest lips
I've ever tasted,
Covered beautifully soft
Patches of skin
With longing.
Last time I was
On this sofa,
At this time of the morning,

Waiting to go to work.

Too often,
I find myself nowadays,
Praying to the porcelain God,
After too heavy a night.
Finding comfort in the bottom of a bottle,
Whiskey or wine,
A pint glass, a can,
Whatever will numb it.
Unable to sleep,
Without a demon drink.

I find myself hitting on Men,
Women that I can't have,
Don't want,
Can't love.

Now 4, 5 times a day.
I'm getting really quite tired,
