I Love You Lord
I love you Lord
Not just because you first loved me
But because you’ve rescued me
So many times.
Because you’ve made a way out of no way
And even when I fix my lips to say
“I don’t trust you”
You love me more.
Because you brought me back into the light.
When I had lost my will to fight,
Didn’t want to be here.
You said “have no fear.
I still love you”.
Because even when I was living in sin
Didn’t know I was dying within,
You breathed breath back into me.
Without You
Who knows where I’d be....
Not just because you first loved me

Poison
Overwhelming sadness fills my heart
As you pour your tears into my cup.
I drink it
As I heave up my own turmoil.
I constantly partake,
But my cup runneth over.
It’s a poison flowing through my veins
As I swallow again and again;
Trying to take away your pain.
I can’t do it.
It’s killing my spirit.
A never ending reign of darkness;
Destroying any light I have left.
It’ll be the death of me.
As you pour your tears into my cup.
I drink it
As I heave up my own turmoil.

Beauty in the Ashes
Beauty can be found
In many places.
In the words of a song.
In the sound of joyful cries.
We always look into the light
To find what’s beautiful,
But it’s in our darkest corners
Where beauty lies.
It’s in those moments
When you’re down
And you’re weak from crying.
You’re tired of trying.
You see no hope,
So you dream of dying.
It’s after the fire,
When all you know
Is buried in sadness and pain.
It’s when a stronger version
Of yourself appears
After the rain.

Wishes
Wishes are the unanswered prayers of many.
I know;
I’ve wished plenty.
Wishing I’d made wiser choices.
Wish I hadn’t listened to those negative voices.
Wish I had been much stronger.
Wish the good days lasted a lot longer.
Wish I’d stay afloat in this sea of tears.
Wish I could go back in time
And redo al those years.
Wishes upon wishes.
I wish this wasn’t the norm.
If wishes fell like rain,
Then certainly I am a storm.
I know;

Doubts
My mind is consumed.
Feeling stressed.
I know I'm blessed,
But right now I'm having doubts.
They say when it rains it pours,
True story.
I know to God be the glory,
But right now I'm having doubts.
Just when I thought I was rising to the top
I get knocked back.
Seems like the devil’s on the attack.
I need to fall on my knees and pray.
I know my God will make a way.
Need to get rid of these doubts,
But it's like they’re tying to stay.
Oh, Lord I come before thee.

Forever lingering.
My heart forever tingling,
But you’re not here.
Your presence is still felt in the corners of my mind.
I thought in time
I wouldn’t remember you.

Help
I don’t know how not
To take your emotion
As my own;
Blaming myself for your sadness.
It’s madness.
Taking your pain
Into myself.
It’s a slow, torturous death.
I’m calling out for help.
No one hears my cries,
But I hear yours.
It’s a hard life,
But I always endure.
I’ll be your strength.
You’ll be my burden.
Forevermore.

Resentful
When we first met
You painted the perfect picture.
You said you were everything I needed and more.
I believed you.
Now that perfect picture is tear stained and worn.
Can’t hardly tell that it was once beautiful before.
I don’t even know you anymore.
When you come in the room the mood darkens.
My smile fades.
I’m so tired.
Been working for days while you just lay around.
I do so much for you.
You don’t acknowledge it, but you’re quick to point out my flaws.
You’re ready to tell me what I’ve done wrong.
It’s a never ending...

The craziest year of humanity.
Fighting to keep our sanity;
In the midst of sickness,
Racism,
Politics
And stimulus checks.
Looking at the news,
Wondering what’s next.
Thinking about what the new year will bring.
Already doubting it’s possibilities.
Sure, this year rocked the nation,
But we have to raise our level of expectation.
For God is still here.
Proving to be a healer,
A way maker,
A protector,
A provider.
He’s about to bring us over

Our Love
It used to be my favorite place;
So peaceful, calm and serene.
We used to bask in it together;
Our love more abundant than the forest green.
But over time the leaves began to fall and wither.
A never ending, blistering winter.
Darkness engulfed the light in our eyes.
Truth overshadowed by all the lies.
The sky full of stars seemed dead and cold;
A place once so magical now hurt to behold.
So peaceful, calm and serene.
