POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Intellectual, romantic, and philosophical... within my writings you will find beauty even in the darkest of places, and light even within the blackness of night itself.
The Double-Headed Eagle
- The Double-Headed Eagle -
What marvels dwell in nature: that call a spirit so errantly,
From places that we call our home, to range so furiously…
And I in years now long ago, to a mountainside did climb!
There seeking closeness to the earth, and to the far divine.
What led me there I cannot know, only some compulsion,
To seek something lost to this time, free of time’s erosion.
Through swamp and bog, and trail by the sea’s hot sands,
Across rock and under tree, I went across so many lands!
Far from brotherhood and lodge, yet with trusty compass,...

Battle Cry of the Fallen Queen
- Battle Cry of the Fallen Queen -
Prelude: Serpent of Light
A serpent of light entwines, becoming a sign of infinity,
Its’ radiance stretching forth like a great spider’s web!
Then, like glass, the web shatters to reveal all eternity…
And I have looked beyond it, swallowing all my dread.
The mazes of memories, the thoughts of bygone ages…
All like light are they, and do illuminate for me my path.
As the hourglass turns, the sand causes us such rages…
For we struggle against time, when time is full of wrath.
Like a butterfly, I flit away into...

Morning Love
- Morning Love -
The moon has set, there amongst billions of stars,
And with it the Pleiades in the spaces allotted there.
Time, that thief of joys and healer of sorrows past...
It passes like the night, and brings ease to my scars.
Alone and longing for love's embrace, time to spare,
I lament when time moves too swift, never to last!
The skies have stormed and left their thunder nigh,
Heaving the earth, for that mother often must sigh.
When darkness comes and the land is still as death,
The earth is calm after the storm, catching its' breath....

Once and Future: A Confession
- Once and Future: A Confession -
Back in the 1980’s, I was in truth a rebel without a cause!
Crusading to be considered cool and fighting just to party.
This life has been so very long, and harsh without pause…
But it is the only one, which I do have now, so I live hearty.
There are many times I think I would like to see come again,
And there are the terrible moments I cannot speak of at all!
I have been called a saint, and I have enjoyed many a sin.
I have stood in the emerald light as in darkness I did crawl!
Alone I sat brooding so often, long past...

A Dark Celebration of Joy and Lamentation
“I saw a marvel in Heaven that I must convey:
A woman like a dove bade me look and pray.
Alone she slumbers, whilst man dreams long…
But I walked in her dream as I heard her song.
Child, come over to me and know peace true!
This she spoke unto me, ‘ere she was through.
And beyond the waters of the Abyss I soared!
Whilst like a great golden lion, I loudly roared.”
Behold the might of the sun, and know it to be so pale,
Compared to the majesty of she who is beyond it all…...

Queen of Demons
- Queen of Demons -
Based on some of my past-life memories…
Mara was my name in a primordial cycle of time,
Queen of Demons they named me, most fearfully.
My faceless priests sang songs of me so sublime,
That: their music pierced even the veils of reality…
Whilst across their dead planet, my beauty shone.
I, in exile from domains beyond even their seeing,
Was, to them, a goddess beyond flesh and bone!
Before my divinity lesser gods were sent fleeing…
And my people loved me, as I did reign supreme.

Erebus
- Erebus -
Lo! Hear now the tale I weave of that dark goddess,
Dreaded by mortals of old, yet whom I walked with…
Hand in hand, each of us wearing our blackest dress!
I sing of Erebus, whom some called a god of the Abyss.
Yet either gender could she assume, and often did thus:
Beautiful one moment, handsome the next, always fair…
For in her darkness was a certain light one could trust.
An honest light, and yet of it did men learn to beware!
I, whom once was called a queen of demons, so right,
And yet even I did not gaze too deeply into her...

Pondering
- Pondering -
In pondering on our mortality, I realize where I’ve been,
And oft I believe I’m wandering, to pay for some old sin.
I’ve walked beneath the banner of the gilded cross I knew,
And sat a rose upon the stones, when such tribute was due.
I know that soon shall come the time others have feared…
But I shall remain steadfast, until Heaven’s gate is neared!
I held the Grail within my palms, but then she did ascend,
Before I could solve her mystery, which never had an end.
Mine eyes have glimpsed the cosmic, much to my dismay,
For even in...

Trinity of Visions
- Trinity of Visions -
Vision I: In Timelessness
Beneath white skies, I did stride forth in exile from Paradise.
Pale blue, the mountains that sparkled in the setting of a sun!
Not the sun as lights this world, but one of more alien device.
Mist from those mountains came to the icy streams as begun,
Beyond the sight of one who beheld things more terrible still…
And yet, my stride was not lessened, my beauty not defaced.
My feet did not touch the stream’s waters, so cold and chill!
For they led to domains of the dead, not by sunlight graced…...

Children of the Gods
- Children of the Gods -
Based on some of my past-life memories…
The exciting prequel to my epic true story “Memoirs of a Galactic Emperor”!
Prologue – The Dark Faction
In another time, across the vast gulfs of the stars, there was a very distant universe not totally unlike the one in which we now exist. Perhaps it still is out there, amongst the myriad realms of the endless cosmic reaches! But this tale is of the past, not the present. And in that era of the ancient past, there did exist beings not unlike mankind, who were human much as we know...

Gentle Caresses
-{ Gentle Caresses }-
In gentle caresses, the cherry blossoms fall as spring unfolds,
And I walk past the youthful trees, not knowing their years…
I never know who else sees these wonders as though untold.
Will I know when my destined angel notices my fallen tears?
None can say when the season comes, for smiles to be born.
So I smile to hide my sorrow, and I look for the next miracle,
Not knowing whence it shall be, whether in dusk or the morn.
All too soon, seasons end, like wheat before a harvest sickle!
But wonders never cease, and they...

Night of Sorrows

Prologue: Silent Tears
You cannot hear my weeping just from written verse…
But the heartbreak I have suffered in life, does compel,
My hand to pen what I must, for I feel like I will burst!
There are moments when it seems this world is a hell…
And those who ever hurt me must then be the damned.
Within me lies my innocence, the joys they try to steal,
The song I strive to sing as if it were a divine command.
I must not be silenced, and I must show how I do feel!
So I sing on, even through the depths of my sadness…
I...
