Three Magic Words
some say the opposite of love is fear
not fear of physical pain,
but, fear of anger,
condemnation, abandonment,
judgement.
intimacy is a result of:
shared experience,
respect, loyalty,
tenderness, cruelty,
forgiveness, acceptance,
empathy and most importantly, trust.
trust that no matter how dark
depraved or perverted,
wishes, dreams, needs and desires
can be expressed and
requests can be made openly
without fear.
one of the most beautiful
expressions of intimacy and trust...
not fear of physical pain,

in life pain is inevitable.
physical, emotional, spiritual.
where do you fall on the spectrum
of human masochism?
most of us, sometime
during our life,
willingly enter
the pain cave.
athletes pushing
despite discomfort and injury,
students studying
to the point of exhaustion,
climbers enduring
frigid temperatures and lack of oxygen,
long distance hikers
enduring blisters and losing toenails.
extreme sensation-seekers
using their bodies to test limits.
