POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Remember the past, plan for the future, but live for today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come
Take Me Back
Oh take me back . . .
take me back to a simpler time
to a simpler place
where we floated on clouds
held our heads proud
and life had a much slower pace
oh take me back to a peaceful time
not filled with hate
where we chased butterfly dreams
through meadows, past streams
and your kisses were sugary sweet
oh take me back to our start
with wishes on stars
where futures were far
troubles set free
and that love in your eyes I could...
take me back to a simpler time

Adrift
it leaps as if another world was dawning
My smile fills a cavern of emptiness
left to carry the loss of you
I see
Reflections only of
Pure Loveliness
Silk strokes of heaven
Smooth
Curves surround my void
Holding me
Together I am one with you
hands cascade across this body
and it is your touch I feel
inching its way into my dream
unseen for too many moons
I all but blink and ...
The bath has turned frigid ...

Edge of Summer's Crease
Sunshine drops a morning wink
A soft warm breeze I sit and think
Across the lake the mallards wait
In southern skies a journeys date
The oaks are hung in painted gold
Where pretty words of praise are told
Sounds of life along nature's path
Wonders filled her righteous bath
With guide of visions beauty blessed
Through eyes of blue my soul's caressed
I stroll near edges of summers crease
The bluebirds sing and I'm at peace

Invisible
I'm jagged
cut off at the sleeves
taking unguarded risk
not doing what they please
Invisible
out here in the breeze
standing with the masses
not knowing who I'll be
I'm dust
swept off to the edges
hidden from the sunshine
not wanting you to sneeze
Undesirable
drifting to a different tune
trust lost along with the heartache
not taking it anymore
Visions
giving voices to those with alternate choices
trying things that make you sing
not alone no longer ...

Farewell My Love
Tears
Roll
Gently
My heart cries
As it dies once more
My arms go limp as you break free
Standing alone with memories and a broken heart
I am lost, a pauper without a grave, doing time waiting for Him to call me home

Blessings and Destinies
Love remains. I don't know why we should suffer so much. Perhaps I shall find out."
Excerpt from "Portrait of a Lady" by Henry James
Submerged in thought, my mind flows.
I'm a majestic river
with all it's curves and bends
running over rocks around obstructions
gathering strength and speed.
Above I catch a glimpse of the sun
shimmering off the eye of a young cygnet
so white and pure without commitment
calm, loving and carefree
looking to soak up...

Drenched Thoughts
Raindrops trickle for what seems
more than a lifetime
Drenched the worm wiggles
out in the open gasping for life
hoping to avoid the early bird
but he was too late
for the early riser was the fisher
who would use him as bait
Impaled on the edge of a hook
splitting in two to get away from you
but too late
thrown with the wind
to the sea
begging "someone rescue me"
Drenched the worm wiggles
seeing his fate
at the jaws of defeat
But the rain trickles harder
and with the hook he...

A Secret Garden
Cascading out past an open window
notes played so elegantly gain life
Along side the cherry blossoms
the fresh scent of honeysuckle
glides to a special secret spot
Unknown to human touch
but loved by her so much
'tis where her feelings go
where her sunshine grows
in every breeze that passes by
creating that twinkle in her eye
A secluded sanctum with golden views
warm hearts wander a quiet rendezvous
notes played so elegantly gain life

Sunburst
Sun brush slow as dawn's light breaks
kiss gently on this heart that wakes
warm up days til night stand guard
when breeze blows brisk and mighty hard
Tap lightly on her peeked cheek this morn
where thoughts of love and life are born
bring forth to her peace and hope
and faith in man from words God spoke
Impart comfort and ease in rays you share
lighten our load on that cross we bare
Rise up high and in blue skies do rest
soothe our souls with loyal hearts abreast
Sun brush slow as dawn's light breaks

The Last Waltz At Dawn
The wind carries in your soft loving jasmine scent
Is it really you or am I just daydreaming once more?
The sun taps me on my pale shaded shoulder
I turn quickly thinking it is you
Asking for one more moment
One last dance
One more chance at romance
One last goodbye
Laughter and joy echoes through my padded castle
I muster up the energy to carry my lifeless body
over to the balcony window
with all my strength I pull back the white lace curtains
and watch, with a...

Stray
Mangled and muddy
a limp could be seen
spat on and bullied
when others were mean
Head hangs to the ground
scrounging a meal
cast out of comfort
from a love thought as real
Tiptoeing the banks
of a slow moving stream
basking in sunshine
seen in yesterday's dream
Spied a reflection
for who is this cat
one who is ugly
mangy and fat
Eyes that are lost
no purpose nor soul
sadly surrendered
hardened he strolls
Purrs echo the night as
empty meadows he roams ...

Shine
Thought lost, the beauty that surrounds
Cultivated from the supple hand of man
Risen from earth and washed clear by rain
But what not planted by one is not all gone
Seeds still sprout from the wings of old
And the growth of good lives on
In spirits of me and spirits of you
Where the sun has not yet been
To where she lies to rest
Hues of hope revive
And in the morning
She shall shine
Bring faith my child
And the world will flourish
Cultivated from the supple hand of man
Risen from earth and washed clear by rain
But what not planted by one is not all gone
Seeds still sprout from the wings of old
And the growth of good lives on
In spirits of me and spirits of you
Where the sun has not yet been
To where she lies to rest
Hues of hope revive
And in the morning

Bring faith my child
And the world will flourish
