[ FS ] Drawn
It would be
nothing short of my honor
to unfurl the simple shoelace knot
keeping your beauty contained
within this Japanese kimono
let fall the robe
splashing down your contours
into a silken puddle
around bare feet
put my hands to your hips
suggest, pose and bend you
at just the perfect angle
so I may capture
the swell of your breasts
in the hands of my focus
trembling with anticipation

[ Spiritual ] Life Drawing
Life is a handful of sketchbooks
you juggle with one hand
Some drawings turn out great---
---others fall short of your expectations
and you take an eraser to those
try again
and erase
try again
and erase
until the fabric of your sketch paper
becomes worn to the point of torn
and you are left with little choice
but to start from scratch
with a fresh, clean sheet
or move on to sketch
a different...

[ FS ] A Man Overboard
When the subject of female figure
alluring body of water that it is
becomes topical in mind
or beholden in eye
I do not deny
being aroused
Most often, slightly
as if a gander feather
tickling breast till goose-fleshed
On occasion, substantial
in the heaping handfuls of hind quarters
grabbed at their owner's behest
Such abundance of beauty in the world!
Though I will never get around
to see all...

[ The Muse(s) ] The Deviant Art Side Of The Muse
Ava, please recite
Reconstructing
by Ex-Machina."
And so the poem begins
again
by an author Favorited for reasons
aplenty, most of which I can't
consciously explain
Your ideas hang low
a starched shirt for a ceiling
until thread bare
and sweat stained in August.
Cadence of her voice
immediately sends imagination ...

[2017] Paroled
after an untold
number of years
having done his time
released from a cold cell
reeking with sweat, farts, grime
and other assorted stenches
from three hundred Spartans strong
ready to leap forth with spears
from trenches dug in deep
along the outskirts of this
underworld kingdom come
to latent complacency
walks in with a madder than
Max in the Thunderdome
expression and proceeds
to kick me square in the gut
and off my feet ...

[2017] The Conversation
Life is not always a poem
that you can critique
over and over to isolate
where the communication
breakdown occurred between
writer and reader
Sometimes it is both
necessary and easier
for everyone's sake
to hit the reset button
and return to where
the conversation began
that you can critique

where the communication
breakdown occurred between
writer and reader
Sometimes it is both
necessary and easier

[ On Poetry ] Work In Progress
I might be anywhere
from gifted to somewhat
skilled at writing poetry
but as a person
who's mainly spent time
in the company of his own
thoughts and personalities
rather than actual people
for over forty years
I can honestly say
I am a work in progress
not likely to be finished
in this lifetime
I'll gladly admit to
my writings being flawed
and
having room for improvement
It's only after years of
blood, sweat,...

[ On Poetry ] Scratch and Sniff
It is far more advantageous to
make a mole hill out of a mountain
when it comes to assessing our
poetic abilities
Cynical?
No!
To think we have reached
the pinnacle, is to believe
our shit doesn't stink
While most celebrated authors
we consider the brightest
and best in the business
in terms of being published
may have mounted Everest
I'm convinced they would
freely admit to having ...

[2017] Destroy All Monsters
Woke up this morning feeling as though
I'd write a monsterpiece
today
lub
lub dub
Brewed myself a cup of mornin' Joe
Greeting sun, pushed curtains
away
lub
lub dub
On the water of my beachfront home
---a troubling roil of bubbling foam
lub dub
lub dub lub
Mouth ajar at what couldn't ever possibly
be...
