POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Just an amateur poet trying to find herself.
Despair
I lost someone too soon;
Yet time has not slowed to accommodate my sorrow-
The world progresses as usual, unfazed by death
I guess part of losing someone is accepting the fact that they're gone-
And more than that, learning that life has to continue.
Yet time has not slowed to accommodate my sorrow-
The world progresses as usual, unfazed by death
I guess part of losing someone is accepting the fact that they're gone-
And more than that, learning that life has to continue.

Valentine's Day
Today my lover gave me flowers:
A bouquet of delicate red roses,
A symbol of his undying affection
I hold them gently, caressing their velvety petals
I'll set them in a glass vase, and display them in a window
And for a while, they'll still be beautiful;
But you can't stop time from withering them-
Flowers die, and so do we.

A symbol of his undying affection
I hold them gently, caressing their velvety petals
I'll set them in a glass vase, and display them in a window
And for a while, they'll still be beautiful;
But you can't stop time from withering them-
Flowers die, and so do we.

Every rose was once a tiny bud
Waiting for its day to bloom.
Waiting for its day to bloom.

Memory
Funny how once you've loved someone
And let them go
It's almost like you never even knew them at all;
Their memory is a long-forgotten song
Alive only in the depths of your subconscious
Until one day, you remember why it was stuck in your head
In the first place-
And you realize that even though they're not a part of your life anymore
They still manifest in every aspect of your being.
And let them go
It's almost like you never even knew them at all;
Their memory is a long-forgotten song
Alive only in the depths of your subconscious
Until one day, you remember why it was stuck in your head
In the first place-
And you realize that even though they're not a part of your life anymore
They still manifest in every aspect of your being.

Nothing lasts forever
Save the passage of time.
Save the passage of time.

The memory of what once was echoes through my mind
Like the last notes of a mourning dove's call.
Like the last notes of a mourning dove's call.

The Lies Illusions Tell Us
As I watch a maple swaying in the autumn breeze,
I ponder the beauty that lies in illusions;
How shooting stars are not stars,
But matter burning through the gases of our atmosphere-
How rainbows can't be chased,
Because they're merely light refracted through water-
How the moon's soft glow isn't the moon's at all,
But rather a reflection of the sunlight-
And how constellations are coincidental placements of distant balls of light,
Made into shapes by our imagination;
Indeed, so many of life's most beautiful...
I ponder the beauty that lies in illusions;
How shooting stars are not stars,
But matter burning through the gases of our atmosphere-
How rainbows can't be chased,
Because they're merely light refracted through water-
How the moon's soft glow isn't the moon's at all,
But rather a reflection of the sunlight-
And how constellations are coincidental placements of distant balls of light,
Made into shapes by our imagination;
Indeed, so many of life's most beautiful...

The Seashell
I found you lying on the beach
Pristine, untouched by the world's tragedies
Among the numerous once-beautiful treasures
Slowly broken down by the passage of time
As lovely as a dewdrop, you lay in wait
But I didn't pick you up, for fear that I'd break you
And so I let you go
To be reclaimed by the immortal pull of the tide
Pristine, untouched by the world's tragedies
Among the numerous once-beautiful treasures
Slowly broken down by the passage of time
As lovely as a dewdrop, you lay in wait
But I didn't pick you up, for fear that I'd break you
And so I let you go
To be reclaimed by the immortal pull of the tide
