It was just a faint little sound
A rustling mouse, is all
Nothing of concern
Nothing at all

It was the first night in the new place
Each boy and girl and mom and dad
Tucked tightly in bed
Ready for their dreams

As the father lies down
All hears an echo
Maybe a crash?
Maybe a snap?

When nothing is the same
And all I know is gone
What can I do
To possibly stay the same

For years and years as time went by
I only looked down a straight path
Barren of twists and turns,
I’m not sure of What to do
when the angels emerge from the shadows

I have no choice but to follow these
But how?
I don’t know
There’s not much I know,
But I do know that it’s too much
It’s not what I wanted
It's not what I thought

Overwhelming as an understatement
Confusing as a euphemism
What do I do...
