Why?
Why is there plastic all over the earth ?
Why is the curse your moment of birth?
Why does history repeat and rewind?
Why are all humans so dark and unkind?
Why do we fight and destroy our own home?
Why do we kill and leave widows alone?
Why do we breathe when all need to die?
Why are our lives a sick joke, a lie?

Just now
Just writing this now,
No inspiration, just here, but how?
Dropped into birth from a cosmic soup,
Into the fray into the loop,
Into the rat race naked and wet
Fifty years later Still in regret,
Sad for the future, I ache for the past,
I went for first place but ended up last.
Last in the race, open shut case
Last in the queue lost in my space
Back to the cosmos into the sky
Can’t walk any longer but my wings let me fly
No inspiration, just here, but how?

I’ve been naive and quite simplistic
I’ve voted for truth and principles
I’ve been sold a bag of testicles
I’ve been promised a better world
But into war we all were hurled
I was promised a new world order
But all I got was chicken korma
Twisted words and broken truth
Labour pissing through our roof
The one they failed to fix when sunny
When Gordon sold the gold off, funny!
No money in the treasury now
Brown has killed the sacred cow
Ramadan and Halal meat
We cower now at ISIS feet …. Thanks Tony

I’m depressed I said,
It’s all in your head, they said.
I Know and there’s too much inside my head.
I told them I wanted to be dead.
No, no, no, they said,
That’s not right at all, pull yourself together, they said.
I didn’t know what that meant... I said
Pull myself together?
I didn’t understand .....I said.
Counselling they said,
We'll get inside your head
Give you positive thoughts instead
You'll sleep soundly in your bed
So where only demons tread
They talked around my head

Against the wall
This is not a season in Hell, this is a life sentence in the fiery pit.
No devils with pitchforks in this prison, just the internal, infernal demons who tear and scratch behind my eyes.
My reality IS NOT real!
It’s an illusion, I sit down to eat, I lie down to sleep, but I know I’m in Hell.
Calamity is my Master and to him I paid dues over and over and over again.
I'm against the wall. I beseech the firing squad, please, pull the trigger.
The guns fire, then darkness. But I always wake again with my back against a different wall, different wall but the same...

Dolphin Friendly
I dream of dolphins trapped in nets.
I hear the echoes of beached whales,
driven ashore in confused sonar delirium
I feel the warming of the earth,
and I shed a tear inside.
I see the indifference,
the ignorance and the opportunism,
I see the Eco credentials of Companies and Parties
exploited for capital gain and cynical votes.
Green is the colour of today's collective consciousness,
an admirable cause, to save our sacred planet.
Mother nature has been raped and beaten,
our garden of Eden has been slashed and burned!
And for what? ...

Happy New Year
Midnight strikes!
Optimism triumphs over reality.
All the ills of our tainted planet,
placed on hold while we usher in our “new year.”
Do we not understand that the passing of that hour,
that minute,
that second,
that moment,
is no magical ,
wipe the slate clean,
forgive all past ills bullshit.
It’s just the passing of time.
Each second is like the last,
filled with War,
famine,
pestilence,
death.
Seeping through humanity,
saturating,
soaking us as we drown
in our own self inflicted cauldron of hate....
Optimism triumphs over reality.
All the ills of our tainted planet,
placed on hold while we usher in our “new year.”

Black Ophelia
Not grasping flowers as she descends to oblivion,
Merely holding paraphernalia of abuse,
her sweet voice silenced by the heavy kiss of death,
as she sinks in her olive oil waters.
Bathing, in preservation of beauty,
the black Ophelia falls prey to the bard's sweet words,
the waters, “pulled the poor wretch down to muddy death.”
“incapable of her own distress.”
No flowery verse to mourn this passing,
no singing softly as she succumbs this coil.
The black Ophelia’s eyes are closed,
as the cold waters seal her fate.
...

Who are the heroes?
Boiling hate overheats their brains
Pumping blood distends their veins
Fists are clenched in vicious pose
All in the name of dead heroes.
All in the name of retribution
All in revenge for an execution
They pull the petals from England’s rose
All in the name of dead heroes.
Streets will run with rivers of blood
Faces hidden by mask and hood
Liberty writhes in near death throes
All in the name of dead heroes.
Fear is feeding fundamentalist lies
Terrorist bombers and government spies
Who can we trust? Nobody knows
All...
