The branches are bare.
The Autumn leaves are gathering at my feet,
Have I the courage to kick them like a kid.
Could I lay down and cover myself in leaves.
The Rain is washing them down the street,
I live regretting the things I never did,
My Life is just the nightmare of what one man believes.
Was I bold enough for my own destiny,
Or did I cower at the Rising of the full Moon,
And fail at every hurdle and every dream.
I look back at the bare tree in misery,
And weep that the Winter will be here soon,
And I will have another chance to scream.

The Dawning Grace.
Today is the dawning of eternal grace,
The folly of yesterday is but a gentle breeze,
That simply brushes past the face,
And the thought of Tomorrow’s oblivion puts us at ease.
As abandoned children we wander this immortal garden,
Occasionally finding the wisdom flower,
Rarely do we lift our heads to wonder at the glorious blue,
And remember that our purpose here is to be grateful.
Thankful for a moment in the light of day,
A chance to feel, to sing and pray,
To breathe the air with joy and awe,
Pleased to sail this boat into...

The Black Cat that crossed my path.
You are nothing but a cliché,
You used the L word every day.
Then you went and danced the slow dance,
With that sad girl filled with romance.
Oh You are my unlucky charm.
You are my misery and harm.
I saw a black cat cross my path,
So I destroyed your photograph,
Hey I hope you had lots of fun,
I went and bought myself a gun.
I went to the river today,
That was where you happened to say,
That I was your beautiful star.
And you played our song on guitar.
We made love under the moon,
Sadly The morning came...

Dead men don’t wear dresses.
Simone never drank before midday,
It was a habit her father taught her.
But today was different.
Her husband Aaron of 25 years was dead.
It was in his will that he wanted to be buried in a dress.
So she had a long glass of Moet Champagne.
The will even specified the kind of dress.
It was to be an A-Line,Princess V-neck,Tea-Length, Taffeta
Holiday Dress With Ruffle.
She laughed and cried at the same time.
It was almost impossible to find such a dress.
It was said by some that he looked glamorous,
As he lay there motionless. ...

The Kiama Beach Rock Hoppers Club
My name is Amber Twist and this is my Confession.
When I was 11 I started the Kiama Rock-Hoppers Club.
My sister Belinda was the second member .
We used to hop rocks near the Kiama Beach for fun
but sometimes we held competitions.
I reached the Champion Level because I could
Jump 10 rocks without stopping .
Belinda was really good for a 9 year old.
She reached Junior level of 4 hops.
The Summer of 1999 was to change everything.
We decided to make the hopping harder and hop nearer
To the waves. It was a test of courage.

Miriam (aged 12) and her Grandmother’s voyage on the Titanic.
Miriam: Oh Grandma
Grandmother: Yes, dear what is it?
Miriam: I am awfully excited to be traveling today.
They say the Titanic is the largest passenger liner ever made.
Apparently it’s 882 feet long, 92 feet wide and can carry
3327 crew and passengers.
Grandmother: Yes dear now settle on your deck chair and read your book.
Miriam: Oh Grandma will mummy be wanting at the dock in New York?
Grandmother: Yes dear that is the plan.

Michiko and the little boy.
Michiko was 11 years old on August 6th 1945.
She was the only daughter of Mr and Mrs Kobayashi.
They lived in a small house outside of Hiroshima.
Michiko had polio and her leg was always painful.
She was given the job of cleaning school.
Inside the classroom was a little boy waiting for his
parents to pick him up.
As Michiko looked out the window she saw a cloud forming.
It was a bomb called “Little Boy”
She covered her eyes and hid under the desks and
tried to protect the little boy.
“Kowai Kowai” the boy kept repeating .

Tarred and Feathered.
Here I stand before you good people of Liberated France,
The Nazi’s have been beaten and it is time to dance.
But we have a job to do before the celebrations begin,
These woman that stand before you are traitors.
They slept with Nazi soldiers and some even had babies to them.
I cannot believe the horror of these women.
Well now is the time of judgement.
We must shave their heads and paint swaztikas on their chests.
They must not forget they were traitors.
Speak and see if we will forgive you.

Mrs Karminski’s Ornaments.
When you clean houses you get to see the strangest ornaments,
Some collections are a defence and a wall of armaments,
Others represent a lifetime of memories and recollections,
A wonderful improvement on memory’s imperfections.
Perhaps the strangest objects were on Mrs Karminski’s shelves.
She had roaring lions, beautiful birds and wizards and elves.
She once sat me down and explained what some of them meant to her.

We are nearly home, my angel, we are nearly home.
My dear, my angel, do not worry, we are not lost,
We will follow the well-worn sacred path at all cost,
And be guided by the star that beckons the hopeful.
We will stay loyal to the course of the dutiful,
Until we are safe at home by the warm fire's glow.
We must be lead by the bright candle in the window.
My trusting child, follow this way and stay close to me.
Recite the prayer of our gentle lady of mercy,
“Dear lady, look after us and let us rise above,
And be guided by the light from the angel of love."

Ancient sinister fires dwell in the savage creator's eye,
Soon his fire starter will be coming for a second try,
Choosing to believe, that which cannot be seen cannot be rude,
A cloak and dagger God who spies on the prey but is not viewed,
