Left to Bottle Up My Hopes and Fears
I harbor a feeling that none of this is right
I hold onto a memory and pray for the night
I’m stuck in a rut that won’t let me out
I curse and I scream and I force a great shout
For no one is here to check on my soul
I’m half of this puzzle so far from a whole
The seconds turn to minutes then into this daze
I can’t see the sun I’m alone in this craze
I’ve made this bed see I’ve made my plan
You slipped so far from this stuttering hand
I wanna let go but I’m scared to end it all
There’s not too much farther for this man to fall ...

I'd have you in for tea, but you've seen just how I live
So I ask you, “Night, tell me, is that really all you've got to give?”
Spastic inclinations formed by drastic elations
You’ve got me talking in quotations as I lay in exudation
I can’t pinpoint just when it was that I lost power
But this once bittersweet has all but turned to sour
I swallowed up my dignity and glanced upon your shadow
Then I woke up in France inside a rundown chateau
As she twisted her head to the side with a quirk
"How have you been?" she said with a smirk

May I love you madly like a boy?
Kiss you sadly?
Feed you tears and drink your skin?
Invite myself right in?

Half-child voice falls on my head like warmest ocean waves
Gently and deliberately drowning me
And willingly I drown
If I ask politely
Will you watch as I die nightly?
Will you think me tactless if I act less like the man I am?

Half-closed eyes like those on a tired tigress
Gently and deliberately melt my bulletproof mirrorshades
And
Knowingly
Lovingly
Peer inside at my real eyes ...

Panhandlers
Soho rain seeps into my soul
8th street gleams its oil slicked grin Drifters, heads, panhandlers, poets pirouette the shining stage and I too their secret choreographer
We’re long past the days of confusing jealousy that crawls across my doorstep
If I ask you nicely would you forget that you know me
Forget that there’s another door that leads you to the underlying fact that maybe it was YOU who held all the cards…

Apart at the seams
Seems to fall apart
The crooked rain
Hits the glass door

I can hear the people talking all about their greatest fears

All I can see is fading brake lights as I swerve throughout the cars
It’s time for late night pleasure seeking in some seedy run down bars
Right now I am unchaperoned, but will commit before this night is through
Thinking if I close my eyes real tight then I’ll be sleeping next to you
It's only entertainment, as pretty girls lift up their skirts
When she lays herself across me, I'm quite uneasy as she flirts
It's just another pair of tits, these aren’t her lips, these aren't her thighs
And I’m undoubtedly aware that for sure these aren't her eyes ...

I pray this eclipse, will just burn out my eyes…
If truth can be told, I do enjoy the pain
What's a good night sleep to a man who's insane?
I no longer can see this world for its good
I’m so tired of hearing, "I think that you should..."
I'm what you’ve created, I'm what's in your head
I'm the chimaera that's hiding underneath your bed

The Queen of Hearts
Here comes that feeling once again, the one I thought was real
With patterns of symbolic senses, I still can touch but cannot feel
Every aching phone call made, a pleasure point that starts to fade
The Queen of hearts, the King of spades, a virgin girl, never laid
A relationship that smells of hate
Exploring girls, I'd never date

Stumbled blindly through my 30’s but I always end up numb
It seems I fell asleep and then woke up 41
I offer you a seat but now it’s really close we lay
As you speak I’m tripping slowly over everything you say
I bite my tongue until it bleeds, here’s my shoulder for your tears
I’ve gathered up all your needs, here’s a closet for your fears
I’m following an albatross and the water is so clean
But I fell lost inside her waves so I will come back now as steam
I’ll take these sea ridden legs right onto solid ground
And search this whole damn...
