POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
No clichés, no bullshit; I'd rather live in ephemeral words than this once-beautiful, putrefying world.

The sun and moon never cross
But, instead, oppose to warm the days
And chill the nights
It is this natural balance
That brings life to Earth
Apollo’s glimmer makes the blue sky

Charge at Grunnar's Hill
The dew of morn clings to the air
Infused with their cradled rot, my blade hums at my side
Sheathed, but it knows
Knots climb into my throat, looking below
At fifty thousand strong
Many in grotesque, cast-iron suits
I turn and nod to Aodin, he is a good man
He will die with honor this day
His fist clenches, archers knock their bows
Steady, steady now, not ‘til the sun rises
From behind us – over Grunnar’s Hill
Sweat builds, this chainmail extends my skin
Horses twitch and shake their heads, mine
More anxious than I
But...

The Delivering
The lighted houses against the bend of Rook St were one by one snuffed out. Darkness threw back the hours on the old homes – the shadows accentuated every crack and missing shingle as if rot had settled in. Hoarse winds galloped through the front lawns, fitting into spaces between white picket fences and flaking bright colors from sidings. Streetlamps sputtered to life and sent washed yellow glows onto the pavement, and on occasion, would spit and choke and fizzle. Moonlight dimmed behind industrial clouds before fading all too suddenly from sight. Night overbore, looming dreamlike and hazy. ...

My Sweet Serpentine (Pt. 1)
Streetlamps sputter, washed tawny lights
Like soft drizzling against pavement
Footsteps – I’m benched by the bus stop
Step, step, the rain is thinning
And weighing me down
Pinch, and I’m gone
The shadows are gripping, high
Hips like a canvas
Serpentine, grinning gutted ivory
Sweeping and pulling, tiny wrists
Sour stench of the alleyway
The soil sips my rich crimson
Motionless now – torn, but keep
Tearing
Tattering my skin, salted with sweat
Raking nails and saccharine screams
Palpitate, her lips trail
From mouth to...

Eyes (Haiku)
My eyes through the glass
Its crimson eyes next to mine
On top of mine, mine
Its crimson eyes next to mine
On top of mine, mine

In The Throes of a Wytch's Spell
She took me ‘neath bloodied Luna
Destitute under weary skies – destined – October gave
Her the zeal to smile at my tattered shell
On her doorstep
Emerald eyes and hair a soothing somber
She read me like parchment
Her words black calligraphy
Generosity insisting far beyond
My mortal meters – guard lowered
To her tongue that winds and snakes
And caresses my ears
With wyrd whispers and seduction
She locks me – not in the cellar, that’s
Where she brews her emotions
But in her bedroom, tells me to make...

Buried Alive (Haiku)
Screaming shakes the Earth
Mary’s alive, but her grave
Says she passed last year

Ten Pumpkins (Haiku)
Ten pumpkins aglow
Down the line, a cackle, turn
And then there were nine

Trespassing
Children race about the fields – it’s football season
Chasing crop circles on pale-painted grass
Grill smoke masked by salt water and pine
As I smuggle behind the trees
The Earth slopes away, cavernous in places
All a wave crashing against dingy chain links
No Trespassing
Upon a plate
Humming in the wind
Trespass? Surely you jest?
For you insure and protect your livelihood against
The very nature you so righteously stow
A lesion in the fence suggests you ask for it
And I aim to please

Starry
The starry skies on starry nights
Bind my sight in starry lights
My starry eyes sheen no delight
How her starry lies take to flight
Starry cries that keep her blind
And starry ties do creep, entwine
Starry times and starry lines
They marionette her starry mind
Home behind the rooting bars
She opens up her shooting scars
Safe from streets of shooting cars
Underneath the shooting stars
Strangers cheat on shooting darts
And light below their shoot cigars
Wrapped inside...
