POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I pretend to be a poet.
Supply my Liquid Life
Be still, heart, for the beat of thoughts
Cannot keep speed with the pace you’ve set.
The mind implores you to stop and reconsider
The reckless actions you induce
For these are not activities logic wishes to explore.
There is danger plastered upon the verb,
Concealed with a stable smile and fair mannered words
Which do not hint of the horror that will soon be unleashed.
In fear you will take well intended words unkindly,
The message is sent by a mutual third party
Transporting words and a steady supply of liquid life.
This is merely...

Create a New Canvas
I draw chalk marks all over my body
Hoping the eraser smears a veil across my skin
To create a new canvas of identity
But the material of use is fallible
The surface easily scratches with water or the spit
They spray in my face like the bullets I return in my dreams
Each one etched with all the names they call me
FaggotFairyFreak
DykeQueerQueen
SisterDaughterNeice
HerBeautifulShe
I got the gun engraved, so I could finally say
THAT...

Look me in the eyes and
Peel back the layers looking for me
I hope youre not disapointed with what you see
I know my outside is solid stone
But inside im fragile glass
You touch my shoulder then grab my hand
You have a question
Do you have dreams
Well yes i do
You have a question
Are you all you seem
Thats up to you
You have a question
Whats going on in your head
Im not so sure
You have a question
Are you afraid to be dead
Death seems the cure
You have a question
How do you hear
In shades of gray

Take My Voice
we are all miscounted as malignant mistakes but i wont wear the worthlessness you clothe me in. You discard me like i am damaged. dying. destructive. In reality i am mended. surviving. creating. You cannot oppress me. Even if you take my voice, my hand will take up a pen that will form words and those words will make art and that art will speak for me. hear now, i will not be screaming. there will be no bolded font or a caps key locked down. I wont even make a sound.

Candlelight
The shimmer of youth has darkened
Old wounds have been reopened
Scratches never go away
Scars never fade
I feel myself destruct as I age
Second by minute by hour by
Only a day has passed
But I've gained years
Keeping my head above water
Is what my days consist of
And I swear the good times are killing me
Everything that is no longer mine
Mocks me when I sleep
Every happy memory
And every what used to
Just pulls me farther down
Fragments of thoughts are scattered around me
A harsh reminder of life’s uncertainty
Searching...

Dance In Their Glow
Christmas carols dance on the breeze
And the neighborhood is speckled
With snow angels and giggles
Childhood innocence infects the air
Like the scent wafting from the cookie filled oven
That taunts you with looming calories as
Your mind tumbles through snow drifts
Trying to formulate a way to make sense
Of the emptiness that is causing your heart
To crumble apart and fall into your stomach acid
How can you be jolly
When your eyes are foggy with depression
I can see the pain you try to hide
With your too loud laugh and pupil dominated...

Waves and Seasons
Life comes in seasons
And it comes in waves.
Some of those waves surge in boldly
Aggressively taking us over
Filling our thirsty lungs with water and sending us
Screaming
Swirling
Sinking
Towards the rocky sea bottom.
Other waves roll in
And lift us up above the horizon
Until the stars are bigger than our struggles
And all our dreams are hand drawn by God
And well within His limitless reach
His redemption allows us new perspectives to see from
And the ability to appreciate what we have escaped.
Just as the waves flow...

Human
Makeup is the greatest disguise
It can paint happy smiles
In fear filled eyes
It can cover marks
For nobody to see
It can scream your ready to party
When you're really just ready to bleed.
But why do we feel driven
To paint our bodies
In cheery lies?
Why do we think it is necessary
To cloak all the honesty
Behind false constructions of pure bliss
And trap inside
All the monstrous demons
We should expel with the light?
Sensitivity is not a disability
And admitting to your emotion ...

Acid Rain
Wander the streets of my scar city. Gawk in awe at the lengths they stretch. The depths they reach. The lands they cover. They are far more expressive than my forever screaming eyes.
The eyes that I am always pleading with. Pleading to just be silent. The eyes that make your breath rush from your lungs. The eyes that constrict and squeeze your heart. Your heart that is beating at the speed of concern. Beating at the speed of fear.
Each sound you emit echoes between the lines on my skin. Allowing me to easily read what your feeling. Just as easily as you can read the stories...

One Day- I Will Believe It
Why am I hurting myself when what I really mean to do is scream, sob and rant. When I push that piece of glass into my skin, I am just trying to express what it is I feel but do not feel I can express. I will no longer let you tell me what not to feel. I have been forcing myself to feel only what you deem acceptable- physical pain. But I feel emotions, too. I feel things that you cannot see because you have never stopped long enough to look past the ruse I have constructed. There is mental pain more severe than any physical.
I don't care about your judgements anymore. It is time i...

Pedro
You highjacked my heart
Asking for gum and hugs
In a language I couldn't even
Pretend to speak
But through endless games
Of charades and bilingual counterparts
Eagerly willing to translate
We were able to communicate
And build bridges over the
Far stretching language gap
My amigo Mexicano,
You have the saddest eyes
But they sparkled with hope
When I spoke to you
In broken Spanish saying softly
"eres hijo amado de Dios"
You are a hand-made-masterpiece,
