POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Expressing myself with a makeshift pen.
366 Days and Many More to Come
Light has yet to break shadow's barrier
And I’m walking barefooted on morning’s dew
Caught in an undisturbed moment
Looking up at the stars
Searching for my constellation
It’s like a house with no floor
Perhaps why I had fallen so far from myself
Of no importance now because here I am
Grounded, safe, and sound
One with the Earth
Enjoying my cup of dark roast coffee
With a year and a day of sobriety
And I’m walking barefooted on morning’s dew
Caught in an undisturbed moment
Looking up at the stars
Searching for my constellation
It’s like a house with no floor
Perhaps why I had fallen so far from myself
Of no importance now because here I am
Grounded, safe, and sound
One with the Earth
Enjoying my cup of dark roast coffee
With a year and a day of sobriety

Another Cold and Lonely Night
I can't sleep
I keep
Tossing and turning
What am I yearning?
Perhaps a warm kiss
A little bit bliss
From your lips
As you grip
Me close to your heartbeat
Let our body heat
Simmer between us
I fuss
Myself back into reality
Lonely, lonely
I just wish I had someone to hold
On a night this cold
I keep
Tossing and turning
What am I yearning?
Perhaps a warm kiss
A little bit bliss
From your lips
As you grip
Me close to your heartbeat
Let our body heat
Simmer between us
I fuss
Myself back into reality
Lonely, lonely
I just wish I had someone to hold
On a night this cold

360 Days and Counting
Five more days
And I can praise
That I’ll be a year sober
The actions are haunting over and over
How did I get here?
I still fear
That nose candy
Yeah, it made me dandy
But it took away a piece of me
That I will never again see
The innocent country girl
Who wasn’t ready for the world
And I can praise
That I’ll be a year sober
The actions are haunting over and over
How did I get here?
I still fear
That nose candy
Yeah, it made me dandy
But it took away a piece of me

An Attempt On Beating Writer’s Block
What's writer’s block?
Is that when words flock
Away from your fingertips?
Does it make you grip
Your pen harder?
Think of the ardor
In your heart
And start
To jot down moments.
Take those torments
And turn them into jewels.
Taken for a fool?
Prove you’ve learned your lesson
And lessen
The pressure of needing to write
With some light
Strokes of your pen.
Then
Shape the words
So you can be heard.
Is that when words flock
Away from your fingertips?
Does it make you grip
Your pen harder?
Think of the ardor
In your heart
And start
To jot down moments.
Take those torments
And turn them into jewels.
Taken for a fool?
Prove you’ve learned your lesson
And lessen
The pressure of needing to write
With some light
Strokes of your pen.
Then
Shape the words
So you can be heard.

Hoping That God Can Hear Me
Consider me a good girl gone bad.
Is this why my dad
Was taken from me?
I can’t see
Clearly through these blurred eyes.
I try
to as the tears roll down my cheek.
I reek
Of anger and hatred.
I try to keep all that is sacred
Close to my heart
So I start
this morning with a prayer.
But I am scared
That the raven, the death bird,
Is stealing my words.
Is this why my dad
Was taken from me?
I can’t see
Clearly through these blurred eyes.
I try
to as the tears roll down my cheek.
I reek
Of anger and hatred.
I try to keep all that is sacred
Close to my heart
So I start
this morning with a prayer.
But I am scared
That the raven, the death bird,
Is stealing my words.

Marching Alone with My Tears
My mother’s full of grace
She still laces
Her pointe shoes
Still dances with who’s who
Has taken no time to stop
A mature ballerina out staging the backdrop
There are no tears
To spear
The dance floor
If anything more elegant than before
Fragile yet sturdy
She even sings like a birdy
Art is in her soul
She can control
How deep an emotion can go
I know
That I’m not so fortunate
I admit
I walk to a different beat
I walk in the back streets
Of my mind absent
I frequent

The Bitter Taste of February
Dear daddy I write you this poem
Because this home
Isn’t the same without you
I’m not sure how to get through
Without your wisdom and guidance
I condense
My bereavement into a box
A supposed building block
That I’ve been told to use a stepping stone
But I groan
As I rebuild the foundation of my haven
When the raven
Came to visit us that Wednesday morning
That started my mourning
Food doesn’t taste same
Adding all the spice, it’s still left tame
Right now I bite into this apple
And I can’t grapple
Your...

The Unchanging City Life
This wonderous city of dreams
Is the place where your screams
Frequently get drowned
By the blending sounds
Of the homeless with their carts
The bangers tagging art
Construction underway
It’s constant disarray
As taxis fight with bicycles
Stop and go, stop and go is the cycle
Heels strike against the pavement
Caught in the grind of enslavement
“Hey, I’m walkin’ here”
In the crowd, I disappear
Is the place where your screams
Frequently get drowned
By the blending sounds
Of the homeless with their carts
The bangers tagging art
Construction underway
It’s constant disarray
As taxis fight with bicycles
Stop and go, stop and go is the cycle

Caught in the grind of enslavement
“Hey, I’m walkin’ here”

The Feller Outside the Doggery
Cavalier soul bringing a twinkle to my eye
On your horse take me through the wild west
Wake snakes with whiskey in our cups
Bellying through the brush with no rest
Onward toward the sunset we ride
Yankee bringing me the right kind of mischief
On your horse take me through the wild west
Wake snakes with whiskey in our cups
Bellying through the brush with no rest
Onward toward the sunset we ride
Yankee bringing me the right kind of mischief

I don’t have daddy issues
Keep your hugs and your tissues
I just want a silver fox
To come along and rock
My body as only he can
I need a wise man
With sexy ass lips
To make me move my hips
As I moan his name in ecstasy
Sing baby, I love that melody
Keep your hugs and your tissues
I just want a silver fox
To come along and rock
My body as only he can
I need a wise man

As I moan his name in ecstasy
Sing baby, I love that melody

Falling
Cupid save your arrow, I can’t fall
Fall in love with my booty call
He’s smart, cute, gifted
Gifted in the bedroom, he’s got me lifted
His eyes are soulful and deep
Deep inside my soul he peeps
Smile that could melt any heart
Heart beating so fast it falls apart
He tries to swoon me with his looks
Looks can be deceiving, heart stealing crook
“Yes, baby you have rock hard abs
Abs that I’ll miss as you get in the cab”
Fall in love with my booty call
He’s smart, cute, gifted
Gifted in the bedroom, he’s got me lifted
His eyes are soulful and deep
Deep inside my soul he peeps
Smile that could melt any heart
Heart beating so fast it falls apart
He tries to swoon me with his looks

Enjoying a Me Walk on a Night Off
I’m in love with Christmas time
Some people get sour, as if you gave them a lime
What’s the crime
These decorations are sublime

These decorations are sublime
